I have a '65 LeMans with Hooker long tubes and I need to know if an H-pipe will sound noticeably better than an X-pipe. Generally I know an H-pipe has a deeper sound, but you get more horsepower out of an X-pipe. I want the best performance I can get out of my car, but I also want it to sound good. Has anybody been able to compared the 2 on a Pontiac, or has anybody heard a hot Pontiac engine with an X-pipe in person who could tell me if it still sounds like a real muscle car should?

The sweetest sounding exaust I have heard yet is a Pontiac 413 with an xcutout and the pipes Vtubes. This was on mchell's car. I ordered mine today!!!!!!!!! I got 3" though.

I just had an "H" type crossover removed and an "X" type installed. My reason for doing so was the fact the pipe crossing over kept cracking away from the exhaust pipes. I figured an "X" would hold up better.

Regarding the sound, I like the X better. It sounds nastier in my opinion. It howls like a pissed-off demon when you step on the gas.

Seat-of-the-pants tests don't count I know but it feels a bit stronger too.

I've got a 3 & 1/2" system and Flowmaster 30s.
