Default 63 Intake Manifold

I dont have a decode book and I am looking for some help.

I ordered a 4 barrel 326 intake for my 63 Lemans last April and just got around to putting it on my car tonight. It Doesn't Fit! It is about an inch and a half short.(I can see into the head on the front and back of the intake) I got these numbers off the casting and was hoping someone coud fill me in on what this intake is for. F225 that number is on the front area of the intake and I found P1 near the back of the intake.

I was wondering aswell if anyone makes a after market intake that will work on the 63.

Too bad I really like the way it was looking.

Again if this has already been covered I am sorry but would sure like to know what this intake is for.

That intake is for a 1965 326/389/421, the intake manifold bolt pattern as well as both the exhaust and coolant crossover designs changed in 1965. The date code cast on the coolant crossover F225 indicates a 1965 intake cast on June 22, 1965.

You need a '61 -'64 389/421 or '63 -'64 326 intake. The 326/389/421 intakes are the same and will interchange, the years 1961 - 1964 are interchangeable..

This thread clearly illustrates the main differences between the early and late heads and intakes:http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=636024

There are very few choices when it come to aftermarket '61 -'64 4-barrel intakes the only one I know of would be the Edelbrock EP4B (Early Pontiac 4 Barrel) that has been out of production for many years.

The factory 4-barrel intakes perform very well, put a 'parts wanted' ad in the appropriate classified forum and I'm sure you'll strike gold before too long.

I've got several '63 326 and 389 4bbl intakes. Let me know if you want one sent your way. $25 plus the ride. $40 blasted/painted plus the ride.

Those Edelbrock EP4B are getting rare and valuable. Check this out;

Wow. That Edelbrock price is amazing. That is SD manifold pricing territory.
