Default '63 ifs

has anyone here entertained the idea of installing an aftermarket ifs under a '63? I haven't seen anything on this. Also, anyone know where I can find a dimensioned drawing for a stock front suspension, so maybe I can talk to one of the mfgrs?
thanx

I have used these guys for several builds. None were early Tempest's but I dont see why with correct measurement, you cant find one that will work. Excellent product!!

thanx Keith. That's one of the mfgrs. I was looking at. I thought if I could send them an accurate drawing, maybe they could help me out. I'd sure like to see an original factory drawing.

New guy here - I just picked-up a '63 Tempest that will be my next project. The previous owner put in a universal 60'' track width Heidt's IFS that looks like it was practically made to fit in there.

thanx for the reply. I'd also like pics. That's on the order of what I was thinking of, but a bolt in would sure be nice.

Thanks for the welcome. If I did this right, here are some pics - a few of the car and the 4-cylinder engine that came with it (also came with a 350) and a few of how the suspension crossmember fits.

GaryK - It has a 4-barrel intake on there, which I presume is original. The guy I bought it from also gave me an Offenhauser dual-quad intake and carb setup for a V8 that he said the prior owner gave to him with the car.

I pulled the block, head and intake numbers on the 4 cylinder, but I can't find anyplace online that provides decoding info for the 4 cylinder... just numbers for the V8 motors. Does anyone know how to decode one of these?

Numbers I have are:
Block - 544131
Head - 543787
Intake - 541259

ahnuld - What color is that you've painted your car? I've been kicking around paint color ideas and I like it.

Look on the front of the block, just below where the head bolts on. Look for a 3 didget code, Something like,,,84Z,,87Z,,77Y,,,This code will tell exactly what motor it is.
