Air Shocks
Having a hard time leveling my 65 Lemans. R/S higher than L/S. Anyway it off by 1". i tried it all, new coils, new shocks.....no luck. I just purchase a set of Monroe part# MA702 air shocks but the air valve is facing and is very close to the exhaust (it is facing in rather than out)
Does anyone have infor regarding an air shock that will work?????? Or other comments to level would be appreciated Thanks, John |

Airshocks will ruin your ride and stress the shock mounts that were never designed to support the weight of your car.
They are a bandaid fix at best. Airlift makes a real solution to your problem - the airbags go inside your springs so the spring mounting surfaces that were designed to support the weight continue to do the job. |

Crazy.. I see more and more of these threads of the right side sitting higher than the left side (my 67 GTO included). For whatever reason, it's always the right front that sits higher on these Abody cars.
I put in brand new springs all around as well... same thing. Left front was a little over 1" lower than the right. The previous owner of my GTO used rear air shocks and only aired up the left rear. This leveled out the car to where it was undetectable when I purchased it. I removed the air shocks because I'm not a fan. The fix I ended up with was a 1" spring spacer in the left front lower control arm (goes under the spring). I am VERY happy with the outcome as the car now sits level all around. Here is the space I used for my 67 GTO http://www.summitracing.com/parts/gls-1106 Here is a before shot (don't have an after). This shot was taken after installed new 2" drop springs all around. As you can see, drivers front sits lower by about an inch. If I remember, I will try to take an after. Last edited by indetrucks; 05-15-2013 at 09:48 AM. |
