Default want to buy 1978-80 grand prix

Hey folks Im looking to buy an 78-80 grand prix to replace the one I drove into the ground 20 years ago. That one was an 1979 LJ with factory t tops , factory real spokes and leather buckets. I paid 1900 in 1992, traded it a few years later for bodywork on an 86 Mustang GT conv. I miss the car greatly, never realizing what I had back then. That car I believe was probably been junked by now. I currently own a 2000 Ram Air conv, bought new, and owned Mark Adami 1968 turquise 1968 gto {sold to Austalian buyer}I can spend up to 10000 for a grand prix. Must have bucket seats. Premium paid for good paint heavy option car. calls prefererd at 216 410 1904. Dream car would be like the 1979 I owned back in the day.Any leads appreciated! Thanks again

Here are a couple. I am partial to the 78's as that was my first car.

Default want to buy 1978-80 grand prix

Nice catch on the red California car! I like the fact that it has Leather bucket seats. Anything else out there, even if it needs some work? I have plenty of sources for repair work here in Ohio, as long as the car isnt badly rusted. Looking for anything heavly optioned. Car does not have to be mint, but willing to pay up to around 10 grand if its the right car{must have bucket seats} Thanks again

I think I found a low mileage 86 t top car for 15000. Is there anything else out there in 1978-80 year range that may {or maybe just thinking about selling} that is worth talking about. The only "requirments are close to ohio, with bucket seats. Thanks again

Those cars typically sell for much less than 15K even in MINT condition.

I tried to offer 13 grand tops for the 86 Grand Prix {white loaded car with 7200 miles. The seller claims its mint beyond mint, says he paid 15500 for the car 7 years ago. So thats his bottom line price. My buddy who buys and sells cars all day says he's either not telling the truth, or extremly buried in it.

I probably shouldn't stick my nose in here, but you really should take a look at HIS car, from what I understand it is recently rebuilt and well sorted out, buy it and take the rest of the money and make it into whatever you want.

I appreciate the responses but I really am looking for a stock loaded up car, even if it takes all summer to find it. Looking for the best Grand Prix for future investment. Any thing like a two tone loaded up car with bucket seats, even if it has miles would fill the ticket. Willing to wait as long as I have to, to find. I realize the responses have been few and far between, but I feel nows the time to begin the search as nobody really has done much to collect these cars. Thanks thanks thanks again for eveyones support!!!

Again, just my opinion, but those cars will never have any investor potential, unless it would be a 2+2, or "maybe" a G/A of that period, and even those don't seem to be holding any real value, unless they have been wrapped in plastic since day one.

I just don't think any of these cars will ever approach Hurst/GP status or anything close. Buy it, drive it, modify it, have fun with it, but don't think it will replace your IRA.

Wish you luck in your purchase.

Apprciate the investment advice, and yes alot of people tell me the same thing and it is absouluty 100% correct. That being said I collect AMC Pacers because nobody else does. Needless to say everybody knows me by my cars. I also am a Pontiac guy{I own a 2000 Ram Air Conv{10000 mile car} and recently sold a 68 GTO HPP cover car June 2007. The GTO was a Gold Level car,but was a chore to maintain at that level. It seems like every year someone was builing and trailoring a fresh one to shows and parking nect to me. Needless to say they were loaded with repo parts. Now let me ask you, wouldnt a 78-80 Grand Prix {beautiful shape} be more unique, {ageed not as valuble} when compared to the GT0 situation? Thanks Again

It's just personal opinion, and my intent really wasn't to hijack your thread, sorry, but for me, I just always liked the 78-80 G/A's you don't see them that often and they were made in far fewer numbers than the GP. But that is just me.

A nice Grand AM would be just as good as a Grand Prix! Gimme a black and gold {or blue one} and Id be cool with it. You know why, it would stand out in a crowd everytime. You see, we do think alike! I just saw one on Grandammans site for 6200 {7200 with custom wheels}
