Your 71 looks great! Are the tips correct for a 71? They look like the Gardner kit tips I bought that were one year only (1970) - the angle is less than 71-on. I personally like them better

Hey Garco, your car looks great! What did you end doing for the steering wheel?

Hey Larry,

I kept the original so I can keep it with the car (haven't found anywhere to restore it) and purchased a replacement from Performance Years. Looks great, a bit stiffer than the original but not a bad option.

Cool....I may give that reproduction a try. I've also been looking for someone that can restore the originals. Mine is in pretty good shape but just looks a little shabby with everything else done.

Thanks for the compliment. Are you sure about the one year only concerning the tips? You may be right! I can't really argue or deny your statement on the one year deal. I bounced nearly all of my questions about parts off of the guys here on the forum trying to make my car correct. Seems like, I looked it up in my MPC and it listed the same part number for both 70 & 71. I bought them back in 2011 with the mindset at the time thinking the less angled beveled exhaust tip was correct for 70 & 71's. I thought I was correct in making that decision. Mine's a 1st week September 1970 build. Block & other engine parts were cast from early to mid August. The car came with a few other 70 model parts with 70 part numbers to verify they were carry overs used on my 71. The AC had the most 70 model stuff carried over.

I tried to do it right. I hope I did, the tips were expensive.

Again.... your 70 is awsome. You have a right to be proud.

Yep - few things in the automotive world look better than a blue '70 T/A with the "right" stance!

When I bought it the front end was lowered. A previous owner cut one spring and heated the other to match.....and I thought I was lazy.. It was so low that it would scrape and drag everywhere I went. I pulled in a driveway one day and the drivers front tire caught the inside of the fender and pulled it down and slicing up the tire in the process. Got lucky and was able to tap the fender lip back into place without damaging the paint..... That was he last straw with the lowered front end. I ended up buying new front springs and trimming a little off before installing them.... While I had it apart I threw in some new balljoints and poly control arm bushings just because.

Here is a the day after I bought it in 2008.
