Default pulley

A/C pulley was a seperate pulley mounted behind the 2-grove pulley. The A/C 2-grove was also a different diameter than the non A/C version.

Default hello

Fairly sure that is the 66 67 non air power steering pulley... 1/2 inch or so smaller diameter than the a/c pulley... 9778804... with 2 7's.....is the number I think you meant

I noticed online there are two different pulley numbers for the power steering pulley for AC VS non AC cars! You say there is a diameter difference, why?? Seems odd to me what they woudl do that at all!

I'm having issues with alignment and I'm hoping the mismatch water pump pulley will solve the problem, but now I find out about this and wonder?

Default hello

You should have mentioned the alignment problem first off...
I dont know what u need now,,,,,,,,

good luck

we thought u needed a lower pulley.. they all have the same depth just diff diameter..

so find the number on the waterpump pulley and post it.......

if thats where the problem lies........ probably got a chevy one or 68 up one...

The bottom pulley my AC guy says is a 4 bolt correct one!

I think my issue on alignment is the water pump pulley and I have a correct one coming!

The question still is why do you need to different size pulleys for the power steering pump, AC VS non AC. Seems they should or could be the same.

Default Oh man

Sounds like you have a 68 and newer balancer or an aftermarket one....

again pictures are worth a 1000 words........and probably a later timing cover also..

or a ground off timing mark on the old 66 cover...4 bolt balancer has larger dia. than 66's

I am on the side/standby on this situation... until you tell us the depth and diameter, of

your water pump pulley and its part number and what direction you need the belt to go.

and how far...pictures pictrures pictures...........u might have the wrong waterpump also

I was told Pontiac at the end of the run in 67 changed to the 4 bolt system from the 6 bolt. I’m sure they were getting ready for the 68 and later that were getting ready to roll out of the factories!

Still that is not my question. Why the different size power steering pulleys for AC cars and non AC cars!

Default hmmm

I thought the question was does any body have an a/c pulley for my

66 ,1966 ,sixtysix ,three 8tee nine, 389??? sorry I got lost....somewhere.. & I thought

67's were 400's though..mine was..hmm.......so your motor is a 67?? WOW I am lost..

this is burnin alot of braincells.........ok.......fill us in again........

as for size the second question....... I think the ac pulley size increased for efficiancy

of the cooling system... larger pulleys turn the belt further .....spinning the waterpump

faster... my garage has all manual trans non a/c cars... uh 1 68 yz a/c partscar outside

sorry thats all I am good for....... goin back out to the garage... good luck

..............scooter T.....

Thanks for all the help.A buddy of mine just dropped off all the pulleys and the rubber seal.He had them sitting in his barn for the last 30 plus years.
