Default Block numbers

I am trying to get the numbers off of the block and ID's with the engine in the car. I can see the 5066 number very easily but I ma having trouble with the number on the top left and the engine serial number.

Simply rubbing some Carb cleaner does reveal the number somewhat but I still cannot read it. Can I rub some grease pencil or crayon in the number to make it show up better?

The engine serial number which I am told is above the oil filter I cannot see at all. Anyone have a picture as to exactly where this number is? What should I use to get old paint and road goo off to read the numbers if I find them?

Any tips would really help.

Jeff thanks.

Here are the numbers that I can read.

Top of head = ZH6 9038
Side of block = 9795066

Am I looking at the right numbers? Are there others?
