American Racing Headers
Anyone tried these on a 68-72 gto?
https://butlerperformance.com/i-3164...tegory:1459678 Trying to figure out why they are nearly 2x as expensive as Dougs. Is the fit that much better? When I talked to butler tech all they told me was they were stainless and dougs were coated. Im considering for my next engine build to do headers instead of ram air manifolds but want to minimize the headaches I had when I ran hooker super comps.

dont know if this will help, but from some people i have talked to and have seen, the ARH are good quality pieces. Mainly later model people.
never heard or seen any complaints on their fit either Dougs is also very good, but if you something a little better, then you'll have to fork out $ for ARH or custom. Quality costs, you get what you pay for (well for the most part). |

if others have used Dougs with no problems, and you aren't looking for every possible HP or want to ensure corrosion protection (thinking as a daily driver in the rust belt) and you want to save some coin, i'd opt for the Dougs
i've used theirs on my TA, and i have to VERY impressed with them. D port and round port. just wish i had gotten 2" ones instead of the 1 7/8, just for future growth, but in reality that's not happening for my case i had stainless headers on my Wifes 05 Vette, and they were nice. i've read many articles, and spoke to LG about coating stainless, and the pros were saying don't coat stainless, unless you are looking for a show queen. something regarding the heat disappation of stainless and how it speeds exhaust up, but that was a decade ago that i looked at that info. again i dont have any experience with your body style other than to comment on doug's quality, especially for the price. I guess get them, if you don't like or dont fit, return????? another option, custom route, such as Lemons headers. See many great reviews of his products, but, again, gonna be more costly, and yes you do get what you pay for. |
