Default The love of a Bonneville convertible

In 1964, my friend pulled up in front of my house with his father's new 1964 Bonneville convertible. It was white with a turquoise top and two tone turquoise interior! It was one of the most beautiful cars I had ever seen. My father was home for lunch and I had him come out to look at this incredible car. He said Pontiac made quality cars and he thought it was very nice looking. For days I couldn't get that car out of my mind. My father had a 1959 Ford Country Sedan which we used to go camping, pulling a trailer. I had to think of some way to convince my father to trade in the Ford for a Bonneville convertible. I showed him a couple of places that the Ford was showing some rust. I told him the Ford needs to be sold before the rust turns to rot. For days I tried to convince him to go to a Pontiac dealership just to look. Finally he agreed and since it was late in the season, there were only leftovers left in the dealers' lots and showrooms. We found a Marimba Red Bonneville convertible with bucket seats, console, power windows, etc. That's the car my father bought. Needless to say, I have very fond memories of this car. In 1995 I found and exact duplicate of this car in Georgia.

Hi Steve,

Ironically we spoke today and you find my car on this site! I joined to ask questions about a disc brake conversion on a potential purchase of the 1965 Bonneville I mentioned to you earlier.

I see the photo of that beautiful Pontiac convertible on your post. It's hard to tell if it is a Bonneville or Grand Prix, since the photo is so small. Looks to be in mint condition!

Nice color choice and you can't beat a 4 speed in a Pontiac!

I'm always impressed when people still have an original car that they bought new as you have.
