LHD dashes aren't my thing but there's a few areas in that pic that I'd be looking closer at. The gauge recess appears that the dash cover only extends half way to back. There appears to be edging and another layer at the air vent near glovebox. Is that the vent reflection, the surround should go over the dash. Could be just the photo. The dash top seems awfully high along the rear edge compared to metal cowl it should line up with. The glovebox lid often sits slightly proud of the dash, this one is inset. Again, these may all be nothing but to me could indicate something else.

Did you have the steering wheel recovered?

I agree with with Trevor. That looks very much like a dash cap that has been 'feathered in' with some filler to conceal the edges. It does look well done. There should be no edge at the gauge cluster, and it does look a bit heavy or thick on the pass side. I would have to look at it in person to convince me otherwise. Wheel looks like Sue S.'s work. Curiosity, did the pace cars originally have a leather wrapped wheel?

just now seeing the dash pics... that is 100% definitely a cap. you can clearly see the edge on the right side of the dash gauge bezel area, its not feathered or filled in at all, just a blunt edge that ends before going all the way behind the bezel, like all dash caps do. same for the right hand vent next to glove box, & the door is very recessed.
mystery solved, its a cap. |

But it looks great so don't let that get you down either. The grab bar is still optional to add again if you felt the need.
