Default 1963 Transaxle question

I have a 63 V8 3 speed (factory original). I'd like to know if a 63 4 cylinder 3 speed transaxle would work or are the internals smaller/weaker? I would be buying it to have some back up parts just in case.

I know the length of the 3 speed rope shafts are 81.945"s and thickness is .75"s. I'm just not sure if the spline count on the end of the shafts are the same.

I keep thinking the internals for the 4 cyl (transaxle) are smaller and wouldn't handle the torque of the V8, but figured i'd ask.

I have a 3.09 gear ratio and the 4 cyl is a 3.30. So that wouldn't be a bad thing.
