Mikes find:

Notice: 1959 389 Valve Stem Vent Diagram, #10 that Pontiac used a vent at what looks like the Intake valve? Anyone that has one of these in the past, can you explain why? Did they vent the Exhaust valve as well?

No posts by me lately, it's more of a winter thing.
After all, it is still car show season here in Michigan.

So here is a few pics from the Clawson, MI "Down on Main Street" Car Show held on August 13 and hosted by the City of Clawson and the USMA Car Club. They go BIG - over 400 cars lined the street for a Half of a Mile and a Truckload of Trophies.
I took the Bandit and scored a 5 Footer, you have to take it apart to get it in the car. Not complaining about that!
Pic #1 - All of the Trophies
Pic #2 - My Bandit
Pic #3 - My Car Buddy's '96 Camaro I helped him build. Won a 3 Footer.
Pic #4 - Another Car Friend in his '66 Stang - first Trophy in his newly acquired car he has ever won, a 4 footer. Let's just say he was geeked and probably slept with it that night.

More Car Show Pics.

This one was held yesterday Aug 28.
Another really big Car Show held by the USMA Car Club, this one at the K of C Hall in Clawson, MI.
As I said in the previous post, they go BIG - over 400 Trophies on hand in this show were awarded. Where else would you see this?
40 CLASSES, 40 BEST, 80 OUTSTANDING, 40 CLASS WINNERS, 100 SPECIALTY CORRAL AWARDS, 25 BEST ENGINE, 15 BEST PAINT, 10 BEST INTERIOR
I took the Bandit and scored a 5 Foot "Attention to Detail", a "Best Engine", and a "Outstanding Vehicle, 1977 - 1979".
It took a hour to disassemble and pack the car with the trophies, display board/stand, chair, and supplies to get home. Smiling all they way during the drive home.
Pic #1 - My Bandit sporting the new Antenna, Hat, CB Radio, and the SoundBox Pro/I-Pod playing Buford T Justice Sound Bytes from the Smokey and The Bandit Movie . Always gathers a crowd, laughs, and stories.
Pic #2 - A truly stellar GTO. Engine and Paint were awesome.
Pic #3 - A 1972 T/A with a 455 HO.
Pic #4 - The Trophies I won, gotta find a place somewhere in my garage for them.

Congradulations on the awards you won, your Pontiac deserves every one of them.

Thanks Mike.
Now that car show season is winding down, will start posting stuff again.
Gonna move a hour north of my current location this spring, it will take a truckload just to move the stuff in my Man Cave Garage

mIKES rEPLY:
gOOD LUCK WITH YOUR MOVE AND THAT IS A COOL GARAGE TOO! OOPS CAP LOCK STUCK...

I am in the middle of building my th 400 trans. I researched Trans. 101 for the past year and a half to build the confidence to dig into it. Plus, I watched many videos too. I Had to save up to buy the rebuild kit, bought a few tools for the job like a Bushing driver kit and a large Vice. I Put an air conditioner in my shed and made a hoist out of a come-along. I turned my Engine stand into a Trans. stand just so I can work like a pro. See my Trans. Post for more details when you have time.

It is too bad they closed my Posts, that was rude, but they can't keep a good person down, be glad to continue in the winter. I for one enjoyed the Articles that we posted, many others did too. If you look at the hits you and I received in our past posts were into thousands, so don't be discouraged with the grumpy people who say our information is not necessary to the PY forum, because the count being as high as it is proof that people are interested in what we share. I for one feel that posting text is the only way to get people to read anything, when I see a bunch of URL's I skip over them, an example is see: Grumpy's posts, his are full of URL's and then when you go to read his URL's you will find many are no longer available to the viewer because someone cleared the servers of outdated information, unfortunately, they deleted a lot of important info. as well, Savy...My way the written script is there forever...Now if they want tight text, without spacing, because it takes less band width to save whose money? I think it is easier to read spaced. Any way good to see you are still online and good luck with that move, Mike out for now!
