Default Adding AC to 57 Starchief

Just bought my 57 and would like to add AC. Where do I start? Does anyone sell a complete unit for that car?

I met a guy at a car show a couple of years ago that had a 1955 Pontiac that had Newstalgia AC installed. I just tried to find it on line but didn't have any luck. Maybe you could try and have better luck. Maybe they went out of business. Good luck on your search and please post any successful results.

I think most kits out there are for 1964 and newer Pontiacs, so you may have to come up with custom brackets for mounting the compressor to the engine. It may be worth making a call to Vintage Air, Classic Air or one of the other a/c vendors to see if they have something that will work.

If you can find the compressor mounting bracket from an early 1960’s 389 that attached to the head bolts you can probably make that work. My 1962 has an Old Air kit that uses that bracket and a new style large compressor. Any of the universal condensers and evaporators from the different companies should work .
