Default Original 7040273 finish

I was wondering if anyone could post a few nice clear pics of an original or properly restored 7040273 carb.. I'm getting mine all cleaned up and ready to restore and have some questions about correct plating on a few items as well as the correct choke pull-off configuration.

Thanks guys, I want to do this right and I really appreciate this!

Yours 7040273 should like mine unmolested original 7040270.

Thanks Kenth that helps with some of the pieces but some are washed out because of the flash. Would you be able to take some more pics without the flash or maybe from a different angle so the flash doesn't wash out the pieces as much, that should help.

I was also wondering what the idle speed adjustment screw looks like and is there the remains of a black "N" on the front of the fuel bowl. I see the remains of the orange "R" on the drivers side, just wondering if the "N" is there on the front too.

Thanks again!

the plating and colouring is exactly the same as other period Quadrajets;
the fuel bowl and airhorn can look anywhere from a faint green to a faded gold-ish colour.

I really haven't understood the trend of these over-restored carbs where obviously someone went crazy plating everything.

here are some images that I hope might help you discern original colouring, with and without flash - the file names should help you decipher what you're looking at.

I have observed that sometimes the choke linkage might be green, other times it is like the throttle linkage and airhorn butterflies, lightly zink plated - but mostly looking like a slightly shiny natural steel.

Thanks, those pics help too. I think I have most of it figured out now but I'll check more next week before I plan to start plating. I have a couple questions though, what would you say the finish is of the bracket that holds the choke pull-off and what would be the finish of the idle adjustment screw.
