That looks good too John.... but not for long when you get it on the road again. All new or a super clean up?

I can't wait till they look used and abused Gary! ☺ Everything is new .. I was going to buy one of the pre-assembled kits from Inline Tube, but when I called to see if they were available with stainless cables, the guy I was talking to was kind of a jerk. He started talking to me like I was an idiot, tried talking me out of stainless cables, said it would have to be special ordered & would take a few weeks, blah blah blah. I told him I'd think about it and call back. Nothing worse than a sales person telling you what "you want" to buy. So I pieced everything together and actually saved a little money.. Price matched most of the internals & drums (all Raybestos) through Summit, the rest (Backing Plates, parking brake levers, struts & STAINLESS cables) through Inline's various EBay stores. I've gotten pretty good at shopping for the best deals I can find, every little bit helps... I did try to save a little more & blasted & painted my original backing plates, but wasn't entirely happy, they would've been fine really, but I was being picky. Thanks again for the compliments Gary.

Got the front control arms and rear control arm braces painted this weekend, didn't take pics tho. The rear end is prepped but I didn't get it painted because I forgot to take the housing bushings to press in (argh!). Maybe one night after work this week. I did color code my bushings, which I might be the most excited about through the whole project so far.. it's the little things haha. I'm sure my colors aren't 100% accurate, but for this old goat I call it close enough 😁

Today's progress. Feels good to be assembling instead of dismantling/prepping. I'll let the rearend sit for the week, and hopefully get it assembled & bolted up next weekend. Had to take a pic of the upper bump stop, as it was the first piece to go on the frame, I was pretty excited! Lol

Father's day a year ago, I drug this old goat home, and here we are... got the rearend assembled and bolted in (but not torqued). Everything went pretty smooth. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions, wisdom & kind words over the past year. Looking forward to more!

More from today. I know my bushing colors aren't quite right, my drums probably aren't the right shade of red either, but everything pops pretty good 😁 Happy Father's day to all the dads out there!!! Everyone try to stay cool tomorrow!

Got the Scarebird kit installed this afternoon. All went well, only hiccup was the dust caps. Scarebird sent a pair with the kit, those didn't fit the rotors. Luckily I had bought a pair a week before I got the kit, they were a Dorman product and fit ok with a little Bodyman's ingenuity. But then when I bolted the wheels on (repop) the top hat part of the center cap bottomed out on the dust cap, not allowing the outside diameter of the rest of the cap to sit right on the rim. A little more Bodyman's ingenuity and I got them to sit ok, but I think I'm going to have to space the top hat part out with something, I'll have to get creative. All the brackets, hardware & spacers looked and seemed to work great. The wheels clear and spin freely as they should.

Thanks Eric! I have some questions about the Super T-10 in your 67 I see in your profile. I'm curious to what shifter combo you used & if you are running a console? And if you're using a stock driveshaft? I think I've read the stock muncie or 2 speed shaft will work lengthwise if you switch to the proper yoke. Thanks again for the kind words, hope to post more progress soon.

Johnny, I put the ST-10 in my 67 back in the mid 90's, so the details of the swap are a bit fuzzy, but here's what I can tell you for sure.

My car started life as a 3 speed, no console. By the time I bought the car in 1992, it had been converted to a Muncie M-20 with a console. It had a different Hurst shifter in it at that time (squared off handle), but I was able to find a correct round handle shifter along the way that I put in while the Muncie was still in the car. I had to work with the console mounting some to get it to cooperate without rubbing the shifter handle when going into reverse. I got it to work fine without rubbing, but the shifter still favored the left side of the opening in the console. That being said, I have not checked any of the numbers on my shifter, so I can't say with 100% certainty that it's a correct 67 console shifter. Nevertheless, it works/looks fine, and again, no rubbing.

Fast forward a few years, and the Muncie finally gave up, so that's when I put in the ST-10. The swap was very straightforward, and I don't recall needing to modify anything. But yes, you are correct about the driveshaft. It requires the Turbo 400 yoke on the output, but it's still the same length driveshaft that I was using when the Muncie was in the car.

Hope that helps!

Eric, thank you, it helps alot in confirming the drive shaft and yoke. And good to know the console is an option. I'll have to research the shifter plates, body & stick combos a little more. It could possibly come down to trial and error, but good to know it is possible to run the ST-10 and a console. Thanks again sir!

Got a motor for my goat today, it just happens to be the motor that brought me home from the hospital. Dad's 69 WT 400 that my uncle has had since mom took out 3 telephone poles around 93'. I've been after it for awhile (like 15+ years) but he was reluctant to come off it.. He finally changed his mind. It took some digging but I got it out of hibernation and over to the barn. Got the top half tore down, and the cylinders look pretty good, no ridge and still crosshatched. Dad seems to think there's only about 9,000 miles on the last refresh... I say refresh because the block is std. bore. Dad was right about that too, I found that hard to believe, but I pulled the first head off and there were the forged trws stamped std. He thinks the crank is std too, but wasn't as sure. I guess we'll see when I get it torn the rest of the way down... I know none of this matters all too much, since I'll be going through it all anyway, but after the last 400 i got from the same uncle that needed 2 sleeves I was expecting the worst.. I also snagged a Bellhousing, driveshaft, st-10 your & clutch/brake pedal assembly. Unfortunately my battery died before I could get pics of the tear down, but I'll get some in the next few days hopefully.

Looks good. Good to hear it went pretty good with the disc conversion. I had to use 1/4" spacers on discs so the rim wouldn't hit the tabs for the brake pads. No big deal tho. Next set of pads will be different I hope. LOL

Got the rest of the motor tore down last weekend. Everything is standard and looks pretty good. Have to catch up with my buddy who has the bore gauge and mics, see how everything specs out. Heading to Norwalk Friday and Saturday, maybe I'll see some of you there ! ☺

Picked up the exhaust from the nationals on Friday. Spent the day Saturday at the show with Dad and my nephew, had a great time, amazing turn out again this year, possibly the biggest ever! Spent a couple hours this morning mocking up the system on the chassis. I can't wait to hear how it sounds! Went with the 2.5" Pypes X-Change system with the Race Pro mufflers, and their electric cutouts. Seems to fit pretty good so far. Have to get the motor built so I can hook everything up, line it all up and clamp everything tight.

Been a looooong time since I posted any updates. Finally mated the drivetrain and chassis together. Only snafu was that my driveshaft yoke is about 7/8" too long from the centerline of the U-joint to the back end of the barrel. Oops.. new correct yoke was delivered today.
