Default Aluminum radiator for 1966 GTO

Looking for an Aluminum radiator for a 1966 GTO that looks stock. I do have a shroud.
I am not sure if this was brought up before in the forum.
Is there a company who makes them?
Please let me know.
Thanks

I bought one from Cold Case for my 66. It fits ad works good but take note there are two sizes- I think one for AC cars and one for non-AC.

There's a little more to it than that. Cold case sells the following for '66 GTO:

- Standard non-A/C (15" tall) with 2 rows w/1.0" tubes
- Standard A/C (17.5" tall) with 2 rows w/1.0" tubes
- HO/SD non-AC (15" tall) with 2 rows w/1.25" tubes
- HO/SD A/C (17.5" tall) with 2 rows w/1.25" tubes

And with any of the above options, you need to specify auto vs. manual transmission.

I have the standard version with A/C and auto trans in my car. Nice unit that works well. However, just know that although the top tank looks similar to stock, it is not an exact match by any stretch. The width and number of "ribs" in the top tank is noticeably different to the trained eye.

Hello
I have a 15 inch x1.25 Cold Case for auto trans that is brand new. I changed the core support to ac and never used the 15 inch.
Glad to sell for 1/2 price if it will help

I too have a Cold Case radiator for my 4 speed 66 GTO. I got it from Ames at the last PY show in Hatfield. They even delivered it to the show. Works far better than I ever thought it would. I'm very happy with it. Running down the highway, even on a hot day, it stays at 175 to 180 degrees. For a long wait at some red lights it will creep up to 190 to 200. But as soon as you start moving it drops back to 180

For the price you can't go wrong. It's not a perfect match to the original radiator but it's kinda close. I heard that they were gone to work on them and make them a closer match, but haven't heard anymore on that, nor seen newer ones.

One thing tho. Do paint at least the front of it black so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb when you look thru the grills at it.

Not a bad suggestion by any means, but I'd also recommend that you try installing it without painting the fins first and see how you like it. I only painted the top tank and not the core of mine, and I don't think it stands out too much. You can just faintly see it when looking head-on, and not at all if you're viewing from a slight angle. I was fully expecting that I'd have to paint the front fins, but I don't think I will in the end since it didn't seem very noticeable in my case. Having a front license plate probably helps conceal it more.

ZGH, take a photo with the sun shining on the front of the car. Or shine a light pointed it and take a photo. The way your car sits there's no bright light, so it doesn't show up. When I got mine I set it in and it looked like crap not painted. Out it came and I painted the whole radiator. Just don't apply the paint too thick or it could plug up the veins in the core.

A radiator paint is available if you choose to paint it. I have a new Cold Case in my shop for my 67 that I got about four years ago. One day I will get around to installing it.

Here is a photo with the front end pointed into direct sunlight. Still looks fine to me. I don't disagree with you at all on principle, just wasn't my experience for whatever reason. That's just why I recommend trying without paint beforehand, then making the choice afterward. I bet it would be noticeable on my car if another car had its headlights pointed directly at my car, though. But in the absence of that, it seems fairly out of view.

Yep, that's what I used to paint the top tank on my radiator. If I'm honest, it came out a little more matte than I was hoping for. But I remember when I painted it, the weather was in the 90s and very humid, so I wondered at the time if that had anything to do with it looking a little different than photos I had seen from others who had used it.

I used the Eastwood radiator paint and it turned out a nice semi-gloss so it very well could have been spraying on a hot day.

The "Cold Case" stenciled on the fins totally blended in and went away on the second coat fogged on.

Idk about for your body style but for a 69 bird jegs has a really nice looking aftermarket radiator (their brand) w the tabs for shroud everything on it, about half of cold case price . Looks fairly stock maybe same for your body style.
