Default My '66 convertible GTO stolen yesterday

Yep. All i've got left is the ignition key. Stolen in columbus ohio from a locked garage

Don't even want to think about it right now....trying not to - won't do me any good

7 years of collecting, trading, swapping and saving
all my tools in the trunk + tons of spare parts

garage door broken with a crowbar, car gone

White with a black top, daily driver shape
had almost 30 options on it
PW,PA,PS, headrets, recliner, tilt, tremec, 389 w/ edelbrock heads and a '67 cliff's q-jet
etc

I was in between collector car policies, I might have 15k coverage if i'm lucky

I dug up the dirtiest picture that I have of it - probably what it looks like at the moment

I'm hoping it was a kid on a joyride and that it'll show up on the side of the road somewhere....the cops said that's usually what happens (and it'll show up in a week to a month)

it's either that, or a professional who's taking it apart right now

...i had just put rally I's on the back

get the word out, if you can
post it wherever you think it'll do some good

thanks

-Clay

This one just made me sick to my stomach, Baron. Hope the Police are right and it shows up soon. I'm printing your pictures to take to our big Cruise tonight and show around. We are 10 to 12 hours south of you but you never know. The Cruise is only two miles from I-75, so if anyone saw something... We all need to help in these situations in any way we can. Jim

Deal is in order to break into the place and take the GTO, they had to know that it was there. I would give the police info on who might know that you had the car stored at that location. Most likely an inside job.

Aw Clay, that sucks. I'm in the middle of my disc brake conversion and I bought a manual shutoff valve and cam lock to lock my fronts wheels. Next is to ground the distributor. I was thinking of putting off that part, but not now. Was it stored in a decent neighborhood? I guess nothing is really safe if an adept thief wants it. Hope it comes up in one piece. Good luck. Mitch

That sux
I too am sick just thinking about it.
Whats worse is whoever got it wont even appreciate the hard work
that went into it.
Check your homeowners insurance. If the car is in locked garage and needs
the battery(hint) installed to make it run then its covered by homeowners insurance as well.

That is terrible news. Start getting the word out among the places you usually drive your car. Someone may have unwittingly heard something about this.

Angry Damn, Clay!!!

Gotta nail your fukkin' shoes down when you get out of 'em any more! I was just informed of one gone missing in Lancaster last week, as well! Out of a locked garage also. I'll spread the word at Jeg's, as we did have one dumbass come in and try to sell me the Jericho out of one of my customer's cars that was stolen. I set him up to meet the guy and he got back his tranny and rear end, but the police would not act since there were no witnesses. Let me know if you get any leads and need to go check them out. I'd love to nail these bastards! Good luck. Ron

Do you sell parts out of your house/storage area? Naturally, the people that come to look at those parts are going to be people familiar with the value of these cars. Not that I have the best car around, but If I sell anything I meet up with people and take the long way home if you know what I mean. Don't let people get in your business either - sometimes it's difficult to mistake hobby interest for probing/casing.

na, i don't sell parts out of this garage - the car was all that was in it
was ready to go to the super chevy show with a trunk full of swap meet parts and my toolbox (in case it broke down on the drive)

i keep all the parts at my dad's house a few hours away

No updates other than insurance
Homeowners will cover my tools in the trunk - an easy 3k or 4k
Insurance wants to give me 15,000
but i have to give the title...and no chance of getting it back after that, supposedly
I'm going to throw a fit and hopefully get a right of first refusal that i can buy it back for 15,000 if they find it next week

the only thing worse than losing it would be to see the insurance company get it for 15k in the shape it left me in

...sucks
Nice weather's finally here

This is the first time I've viewed this section. I'm going to have to start paying more attention as I know how I would feel if it were me.

I also don't like the fact that the Forums is now asking where parts are truly located when selling - THIS WOULD BE THE REASON WHY!

I'll keep my eyes open here in Indiana for your car.
Joe
