The best Intake for your needs will be factory iron non EGR from the years 68 to 74, this also puts you in the market for spreadbore Carb.

As a side note in terms of the Cam your running those 3.23 gears will not cut it, your going to want atleast 3.42 gears, or run Rhoades lifters if your set on keeping the 3.23s!

I built my first TA almost just like this with a 68 intake and a worked over quadrajet....ran really strong but was soft off the line and lower speed. I switched the gears to 3.90s, and the stall to 3000, and put an RPM intake with a 750dp on it and shifted at 6500. Seemed twice as quick lol. That’s my recommendation

But the stock intake and worked quadrajet would work really good too. I see the gears and stall as a bigger hindering to performance

RPM intake is what I was leaning towards, I have a 750 DP & multiple quadrajets. Would a factory intake with a spacer modified like the one in Jim Hands book perform equal to the RPM? I have a drop base air cleaner from Butler so that I can still have my shaker. The rear gears are not a big deal, $200 & an afternoon takes care of it. Lunati recommends a 2000+ converter for the BM2 292 cam. With 3.73's will the 2200-2500 converter work?

How much are you going to race it?You posted in the street section.Carb and converter and rear gears can make a huge diff on a 400 depending on use.If mostly street stay with the 3.23s,stock intake and QJ IMO.Tom

From experience I can tell you that cam works best with the factory iron intake.. It also likes a little steeper gear. But I run a four speed with a low first gear. A good Quadrajet will work well also. The converter you have should be fine.
See my sig.

Mostly street use, occasional track runs. I ran a similar engine in a 72 LeMans with #16 heads, iron intake, qjet & 3.55 gears, it would haul the mail. Never ran it at the track though. Having numbers in the signature, nice, I like seeing proof of a combo. Iron intake, Cliff qjet, no spacer?
