Default 67 GTO A/C oil

Since I had my GTO so far apart with this rebuild, I decided that it was a good opportunity to get the A/C working again. So far I have replaced everything but the condenser (evaporator, hoses, compresor, accumulator/dryer, expansion valve, POA update kit, master relay, blower motor, cracked vacuum lines and heater core), and it has gotten beyond expensive. I flushed my condenser with denatured alcohol and compressed air.

As I am getting my car buttoned together, I want to prepare to get my system charged. I am sticking with R12 because I have a case of the stuff, which is enough for my lifetime. The paperwork that came with my compressor said that I should fill it with oil before installing. Should I use mineral oil or ester oil? I bought some mineral oil at the hardware store, but I would like a second opinion before I pour it in. I'm not even sure if all mineral oil is the same.
