That’s Saddle Bronze.

I like it, it was a fairly popular color on those cars that was often paired with a Light Saddle interior.

My Le Mans convertible still has the faded original Light Saddle interior, I wish the Saddle Bronze paint looked like the car you pictured in your post. The original convertible top was Saddle as well.

I owned a 64 GTO that was painted Butternut Yellow or Mayfair Maize with that same Gold interior. It was originally Alamo Beige, but a previous owner had color changed it. Very sharp combination!

My wife loves gold colored cars so she wouldn't be any help to you, lol.
If really set on a exterior color change with gold interior, black or white works, or maybe a really dark green.

Honestly though I like that soft gold exterior color. Nice car.

Normally not a white fan. But I have to admit white would look nice with that gold interior. If the body was good enough, black would look good as well. I had a Tan 66 Tempest with a gold interior. Sounds terrible but it looked pretty good.

Black or white, esp black.

That is the original color combo of my 64 GTO. I'm working on restoring the car now - and I have to say so far it haven't been able to find a good reproduction interior (although I am working with Legendary to see what can be done). Here is a look at SMS (left) and Legendary (right) vinyl samples vs. original from a protected location (center).

Here are some small paint spray outs of the exterior and interior color. Although the lighter interior color should be mixed to match the vinyl (in this case it matched the Legendary vinyl which is too light/gold).

I wasn't really thrilled with the color combo initially - but it has grown on me.

If I were going to change just the exterior color I think the Light Saddle would go well with Marimba Red. I have considered a change to a red interior with the Saddle Bronze exterior. In my head I think it would look good but...

Great info - interesting thing is based on pics the interior on the car I’m considering doesn’t seem to match any of those samples- but it could be the lighting

Weird. Does the cowl tag show interior code 216?

What about pinehurst green poly? It’s a factory color and with the gold interior I think it would really give it a modern (almost restomod) look. Put some clean bronze 17”s or 18”s on it and you will have one very high end looking car.

Perhaps that’s because the interior has been redone with ‘65 seat covers, note the angled ‘65 pleat pattern on the seats. The Saddle interior wasn’t offered for ‘65, Gold was offered that year instead.

The Saddle Bronze exterior paint was a 1964 color, replaced by Capri Gold for 1965.

Keep in mind that changing the body color creates a lot more work (and expense) since you'd have to deal with the door jambs, the underside of the trunk lid, etc.

I used the company kolor korrect to match factory interior colors. They said they have the original formulas . Getting interior pieces already in a exact color can be tough. When I told legendary I was trying to just touch up some interior pieces they recommended kolor correct. I had good luck with them.

Is that singapore gold on the exterior? It looks like a pinky gold compared to a silvery gold. I love the silvery gold on these cars it makes them look so classy.

Good observation- my wife said it looks “pinkish”

Post a pic of the car with the interior showing and let me do some Photo-chop work. What hue/color are you most interested in?

I would go back to the original color myself. First of all, it makes for a good looking car in my opinion. I like a lot of those monochrome cars, that is, same color inside and out. Very 60s.
Yeah, I know, your wife doesn't like it... but heck man, the interior is gold!
The way I look at it, if she can get used to the inside she can get used to the outside. Conversation over...lol

I'll take some pics tomorrow and post. I like burgundy and gark blue the most. Also, searching for silverish gold I found this cool color: https://tcpglobal.com/products/rsp-a...xoCY-gQAvD_BwE

I had a bright yellow imron #224 of memory serves me right, 69 convertible and it had a gold interior it really didn’t look all that bad. I dyed it black later but I really didn’t need to it looked better than I expected it would. But I was young and I felt black would look better . The yellow made it look tan more than gold..
