I worked at an ESSO station in Charleston SC in the early 70s' (shout out to Mr Teddy Vuelta, owner), I don't think we ever sold any Big Daddys......

Excellent! We had Atlas tires being sold here in the NW, but IIRC, they were being sold by Standard Oil (Chevron) stations.

How do you tell the reproductions from the originals?

None were used originally.
But on the repops they have a much more rounded edge. I think there is a thread on it in this forum

My '70 I sold a couple years ago originally had trim rings. I should've made copies of the original paperwork. A member here now owns the car.

Ok, this was an ad for Atlas Ties and the "Big Daddy" was a reference to Big Daddy Don Garlits the drag racer. The tires never were offered from Pontiac. I would say that the total sale of those tire was about the same as the 69-70 Ram Air IV engine any Pontiac GTO or Trans Am

SOHIO, (Standard Oil of Ohio), sold Atlas tires, Atlas branded belts, hoses, batteries, spark plugs and filters, wiper blades. First time seeing this ad, and not sure if I ever saw any Big Daddy tires on a car. The go to tire in that time period around here were the Kelly Super Charger tires. They would last a couple weekends and be bald.
