Unusual Chirp sound coming from engine area
Strange issue - I noticed after the last few times driving (68 GP) that after the engine is shut off, for several hours I will hear an occasional single "chirp" sound from the front if I have the hood open. Single chirp almost exactly every 60 seconds on the dot, kind of like when a smoke alarm battery is running out. The car is all original, no alarm or anything like that.
I thought it might be the horn or something electrical, so I took out my trusty auto stethoscope, no sound from the horn, none from the engine... But I found it was coming from..... the radiator cap(!!) Anyone heard of something like this?? If you put your hand on the cap you can actually feel it vibrate with each chirp (about every 60 seconds), very unusual to say the least...Was still going on at least 3 hours after it was parked in the garage |

Rather normal, actually.

It is???
What would be the cause of this seemingly minor but annoying issue? |
