Dave,

Shoot me your e-mail address and I'll send some pix to you. I don't have any available as a URL image, just on my computer.

I sure would like to get a registry up on the web for these '69 HO GP's. I'm sure there's a few more out there that nobody knows about. Just wish I knew how to do that stuff to get it going.

Other than the color combo, your car is optioned like the one I saw here in town years ago. I like your colors much better, don't see too many Verdoro Green '69 GP's. I'll never forget that older gentleman telling me when I noticed that he had no a/c.....he said, I wouldn't own a car with a/c, a/c is for sissies! Then he went on to mention that he ordered it with 3.90 gears. He said that car ran in the 13's right off the showroom floor. Sure wish I could find that car again!

Car ran 14.1 # 98 - 99 mph.

Dave,

That's a 13 second car easily with better traction. I haven't run my car at the track yet, but hope to next year. It feels real strong, but traction will be a problem for sure.

I no longer have an HO GP. I prefer the 70-74 Firebirds, especially the round ports, so the GPs were sold to make room for a T/A.

By the way, I just picked up a Mayfair Maize 69 GP w/ 428 370HP. I will be parting it out soon.

The '69 GP's with the 428HO option came with cast iron headers or "long branch" exhaust manifolds. A special "slant back" oil filter adapter was used to clear the manifold on the passenger side.

I like my Grand Prixs too. I kept a blue 70 455 GP as a daily driver for about five years in the late 80s and early 90s. I've also had a 71 SJ I used as a daily driver for awhile.

I focus on 70-74 Formulas and T/As. I've got a number of round port cars.

Mike, I've always wanted a '70 to '72 T/A myself. Love the looks of those cars! Someday I hope to have a nice one.

Do you happen to know Jerry Burge in Georgia? He has a number of round port T/A's and Formula's. He bought my friends '69 GP SJ triple black 428 4-speed several years ago here in CA and had it shipped back.

I know Jerry. He also owns the 73 SD455 Formula that has been discussed on this board recently. He and another friend named Tom own quite a few collectible Pontiacs.

thanks for the info on the manifolds. that's what i was thinking they would be but, since i've never seen one in person, i figured i'd ask, listen, and learn.

the 69 390HP YK 428 I owned came from a car that had AC and the 3.23:1 4-pinion BOP 10-Bolt posi...and the long-Branch Exhaust.

the 68 370 HP YK 428 I owned came from a convertible that had AC and the 3.42:1 Big-car rear...and the long-Branch Manifolds, and the TH400 tow package featureing the 3/8 cooling lines and Radiator.

Somehow, 7-blade flex fans were involved, but memory doesn't recall if it were these cars.

Wow Pontiyak and CDN2plus2 you guys flamed me bad a while back in this thread.I should look in here more offten to see who is slamming me.
I think my tuning and driving skills are the best out there and last weekend I proved it at my local track in Sparta.
My stock 70 Buick GS Stage 1 convertible ran a best of 13.59 @ 101.12 mph in the 1/4 mile.I cut 2.04 60 ft times on Radial TA tires and no one else was even close to me!
70 428 SCJ Mach 1 Mustangs 14.20 at 98
69 Fairlane Cobra 428 SCJ car 13.90 at 100
69 Dodge Charger RT 440 4 bbl car 14.30 at 94
I blew all the cars away into the guardrails including a lot of modifies slick equipped cars and I loved it!
See you at the track next spring and I will be even faster!

Back in the early 80's there was a low option car with a 390horse auto, 3.90 gears GP it was matador red with a parchment interior and no cordova top. At the time it was still in the hands of the original owner, and quite rusty but he had the original window sticker. manual brakes, windows etc did not seem like a GP, had those weird looking coned hub caps even a non tinted windshield.

Default Firing it up AGAIN

My original thread from years ago started inquiring on this.

If anyone has possession of or knows of a 1969 Grand Prix 428HO Automatic 3.90 gear car?

Model J or Model SJ doesn't matter .

Still no leads after 10 years of looking.

Any news ?

Parted-out a 69 428 HO Bonney Conv back in the day (80's) relax, it was rusted. Had the Towing package. The TH400 tag was PC and had 3/8" cooling lines.

What would the 69 GP 428HO TH400 code be? PD?,, PC?? not PW..

I have a 1969 PR that came with a 1969 WG motor, but I don't know what rear end that car came with.

When I responded to this thread back in 2006, I mentioned I pulled a 69 WG out of a 1970 Firebird. The engine and tranny were separated when I pulled the engine out. I recently started trying to inventory what parts I have, and in the process found a TH400 marked 1969 GP 428HO. The trans tag tag is PR. I think this is the tranny I pulled out of the 1970 Firebird, but I can't be sure.

If PR was used with 3.90 gears, I could pull the VIN and you could PHS it. It's my understanding the GP was dismantled in CA probably at least twenty years ago.
