I think the answer is already in your sentence.
I too cant believe that he would comment, maybe he didnt know it gets posted on the front page for the whole world to see.
Im betting with the political inference ebay will pull it,or at least remove that comment.

Wow...fools and money I guess. Why would you buy anything from a seller that posts such comments? Would be a MAJOR red flag for me. And he doesn't even answer the questions. Why would you get the politics in it or call people names?

Buyer beware, you're stuck with it.

someone should ask him(so that its posted in ad) if he can take a borescope and show condition of cylinder walls.

GM didnt pull engines off assembly lines to ship.
If a dealer needed an engine for warrenty or retail sale, had to order pieces separate and assemble.
Doult ANY dealer into racing got a "built" engine.
They would want to got through it and assemble themselves. At least i would!

Lightbulb NEWS FLASH!!!!

Well....how about we get back to the original topic: 69 428 NOS engine

I just got off of the phone talking with Mark.

Bottom line is this - If you want it here it is, come and get it. If not, no worries. S.O.S. - Same Old "Stuff" with the negative opinions...etc.

Did they really paint them without the plugs in them, and would enough get into the cylinders to paint the tops of each piston?

After sitting 40 years, new or used, would you really just plunk it in WITHOUT disassembly?

Maybe it is NOS but being an engine it requires an examination...bore scope or compression testing would be reasonable to ask for the price a guy could sell it for, and what kind of guarantee does it have?

After all it's not a fender...

And who couldn't paint the top of the piston on any engine?

My point is only this...why not disclose the condition of the bores? Does it change the value to pull the heads?

Nothing against the seller.

BTW he's getting quite a price already on ebay so figure it to go up at the end of the auction.

I would pull it all apart to check clearances and re ring, I think anyone spending over $2k should...Cheap insurance, right? Imagine spending tha money only to find water in a cylinder and have to have it sleeved?

Certainly that is possible after sitting all this time, isn't it?

On the other hand I found a 65 WT block stored in the back seat of a 69 Firebird that sat outside so long the subrame rotted off. Bores were good. Go figure.

But a buyer has got to check...As did my buyer, with his machinist and a bore gauge.

That's all I'm saying, please don't take offense.

During the production run you could buy a complete engine of that model year. But otherwise they sold you a fitted block.
