Wiper's won't go to parked (hidden) position
Hi everyone,
I am pretty new to this forum as I just purchased a 69 GTO convertible a few months ago. My wipers will function but they do not go to the proper parked (hidden) position when I turn them off. When I purchased the car I noticed that the wiper blades were in the correct hidden position but that is no longer the case. Any suggestions where I should start to troubleshoot this problem? Should I start with the switch or the motor? Thanking you in advance, David from Ontario Canada |

Does the wiper work when switch turned on?
Does it drop down then start wiping if so? I don't have any books with me, (in Illinois for awhile) I think it is an adjustment of the arms probably. Is the wiper motor a round one or a rectangular one?

Check to see if you have the proper recessed wiper motor first, looks different from standard motor, it should cycle when shut off to draw the wipers down.
If you can tell the motor still runs a bit after the wipers have stopped (cycles), then the you most likely need to adjust the linkage under the cowl screen. Edit - Looking again at your pic I can't tell if your drivers side has the double linkage wiper arm, it should for the the recessed wiper function. By the way welcome to forum ! Frank

Are they actually not parking or is the driver's side hanging up on the cowl trim? Mine has that problem and a nudge will let them park.
