It is the lowest ratio series carrier. It has the shortest gear that fit the unit. If you want deeper than 3.08, you need a 3 series carrier.

Mr 67gp, incorrect- Series 3 is for 3:23 and higher numerical gears, series 2 is for 3:08 and lower numerical gears until you get to series 1 which is for like 2:56 to 2:65 ratios, serious highway gears..

Your 66 2+2 factory car came with the following: no a/c automatic car would have came with 3:23 gears, posi or non posi however it was ordered...Now 4 speed cars came with 3:42 gears, however automatic cars with a/c came with 3:08 gears.. most folks don’t know this but its factual right in the brochure.

Mine is a factory a/c car so it would have the 3.08 gears. Have to check my PHS Thinking it would be nice to have a posi in it instead of a pegleg. Is this the whole rear end drum to drum?
