Default Barn Car Recovery

Trying to stay away from the tired "Barn Find" cliché but no escaping this car was in a barn for decades. However, I had known about it for about the last 40 years as the owner was a longtime friend. He passed away several years ago and after negotiations with the family was able to acquire it due to my long history with the car and the owner. Going to be a while to sort it all out.

Yep. If anybody gets to use the "barn find" naming convention it should be you.

Congratulations on the acquisition and sorry to hear about your friend.

Here is a picture of the car in 1981 when it was looking good.

This picture is me driving with some friends. The owner was away on extended business and made the mistake of leaving the car with me. Sent him this picture to stress him out. I'm guessing this was around late 1980's.

Wow, '69 Judge ragtop, 4-speed, hideaways. I surmise #'s matching. Barn finds just don't get any better!!!

What happened to the car between 1990 and now? Everyone knew a Judge convertible was a rare and desirable car 35 years ago. Bittersweet to come into a car like that after the loss of a friend or family member. Thanks for sharing and best of luck getting it back on the road

He was a very unique individual. He got burned out with the 8-5 grind and checked out of full time employment. Sold most everything and would travel the world and be gone most of the year. For years he worked in the Antarctic for a few months. So the car got stashed at a mutual friends with plans on one day restoring it if he ever settled down.

P.S. - there is a considerable stash of NOS GM parts he had collected for later over the years I have to get still.

Great story and my condolences on your loss.
Im sure your friend will be watching over you every time your driving the car. Mine sat for 43 years and would still be sitting if I hadnt found it and bugged the owner to death. Keep us posted and wish you many happy miles.
