That car is as fast as it is ugly. And it's really fast!

Other than the Donk giant wheels and tires, the sleeper look is pretty cool. Engine is nicely packaged under that hood. The guys who built our funny car chassis in Flint MI built 3-4 of those Donk style GM cars from that era including a mid 80's GP. They were all done for various members of the Detroit Pistons NBA team. Those guys had unlimited money to spend, (the best kind of customer!). They told me a couple of them started out as nice, rust free western cars for about 5-8K. Most 305 or 350 2BBL. cars. 150-200K later, they looked allot like that guys ride in the video.

Theater of the absurd. I dig it.

I mean really its a step beyond a sleeper.

I've always found those cars interesting.

Just a few years ago it was rare to see one run in the 10s, and now we got them in the 8s and they're getting faster.

I think it's awesome

David Freighburger broke down the "donk" classes as it were. Because someone schooled him on it.

I think that car would technically be a "box"

IIRC the late 70s full size chevies are donks. Because of their large trunk area (Badondadonk)

The 80s G bodies are boxes, and the 90s caprices are bubbles because of the cabin shape.

Silly perhaps, but we get mad at people using the big block notation or call out the buick air cleaner stickers all the time.

The more you know...

Car is impressive but I don’t understand why no roll cage is required in it.

Too bad he needed to cut the hood.
