Nice - wish I'd dialed my bell housing in a little closer.

Are you having shifting issues?

I'm with you on the lakewood bell housing. I'm putting one in with a tremtec 5 spd from Keisler.

Lots of patience required, especially dialing in the runout with a indicator!

Call Tony at Musclecar Metal: http://www.musclecarmetal.com/home.asp

...And yes, he will work with you and replace only what you need replaced. He is also doing custom stuff like minitubs and aftermarket rear suspension installs. You will be surprised how reasonable he is.

I already had all my new metal so he just did the assembly (of the entire shell from the frame rails up). It was $4k (beat that at a body shop!). How does he do it? He has an alloborate setup of jigs that he uses and the entire shell rebuild process only takes him 40 hours. Easy math...he is still making $100 per hour.

Phil,

My runout is just under the limit. The shifter is a bit notchy and Keisler says I should've dialed it in closer. I've also been told it could be my Detroit Locker rear.

Hi John-

Mine is also close at .004 of runout with tolerance being up to .005. I used .007 offset dowels, but I wish I had gotten the .014s instead. They would have allowed for more adjustability.

I also have a Detriot Locker and it has 3.89 gears. I am hoping with all the $$ I spent on the TKO600 and the time taken to align the bell, that I am happy with the way it shifts.

Phil

Had to pull the headers to wedge the motor and tranny in, but the final clearance is pretty good (tight at the heater core though). Still need to install the crossmember for the TKO-600 and cut the opening in the new floor.

Package tray and 6x9 speakers installed. Really happy with the tray that has the hidden speaker "vents" vs. installing speaker grills. The fit of the tray and the jute was pretty good (I have read some posts about tough tray installs), but I am sure it helped that everything was removed (seats, corner trim caps, rear window, etc).

Not very exciting, but it's progress...

anyways, good work.

Keep us updated on the progress.

Thanks! I do have the bug, I have made more progress...

New carpet and the original console are in:

...Seats are in temporarily. They all need to be recovered.

Also replaced the stock throttle pedal, cable, and bracket with Lokar stuff:

...I had the stock stuff installed, the Lokar stuff is a vast improvement.

With a little bit of luck, I am putting the headliner in this weekend.

Looking great Phil, nice work.

Can you do a car for me next?

LOL.

This one is sucking the life out of me, so there may be nothing left by the time it is done!

Spent most of the weekend working on the headliner. I still have a few wrinkles to work on and the sail panels to put in:

And my tires arrived today:

3 more weeks until my wheels arrive.

Headliner just about done (just need to install the rear tack strips), dome light in, windlace and sail panels installed:

Kick panels in (these were a beyotch!):

Next I want to get the dash/electrical buttoned-up then get the quarter window glass in so I can get the quarter area panel covers on.

Totally finished the headliner and installed the front and rear inner trim (a rediculous amount of time went into the headliner):

Installed the rear qtr window regulators/sliders and the rear arm rests:

I have ordered a smoked glass kit from Frank at Prodigy which should be here this week.

I was originally going to keep the interior totally stock, but I have decided to go with Procar Rally seats:

...as Procar now has a matching rear seat cover avail, so I can keep the interior consistent and do all the work myself (I have already stripped my rear seats down to the springs). The stock seats are just so uncomfortable and I think these will be a great upgrade.

Let us know how the Procar seats fit. I'm thinking of putting those in my 68 and would like to know what hints or kinks to look out for.

Will do Bruce. I have already ordered the matching rear seat cover and that is supposed to arrive Thursday from Classic Ind. I plan on installing the cover over this weekend.

I haven't ordered the front seats yet, but will be soon.
