Default Can Am Dash

I'm in the planning stages of converting my Can Am into a solid "Day 2" car from the late 70's / early 80"s. Being new to the 73-77 Colonnade body, my questions are many. First item is the cracked dash. What year / model Pontiacs are viable as donors? If someone has one available for purchase please PM. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

welcome, post up some pictures of you Can Am when you get a chance! We like pictures.

As for you dash Can Am's used what I refer to as a 73-77 Grand Prix dash. they were used on a few different 73-77 Models

73-77 Grand Prix's
73-75 Grand Am's
75-77 Grand Lemans
and of course 77 Can Am's

Good luck in your search.

You really need to consider going with a "Restored" dash. Even if you find one that's intact, the vinyl is still almost 50 years old. I was working with a Grand Prix dash to replace in my Can Am. I absentmindedly picked it up in the middle and the vinyl cracked right in two. I ended up going with "Just Dashes." It was about $2800 plus shipping about 18 months ago, but I'm so pleased that I bit the bullet then. It's as beautiful as original, and they say they use an improved vinyl that better resists UV rays. It has to be better than the '70's technology. justdashes.com.

I may still have the red plastic dash cap that came with my Can Am. May be an option for you. Unfortunately I don’t have the car anymore but have some parts left over.

What's a "Day 2"car?

They make a foam type of product to fix cracked dashes. It's like the expanding foam stuff that you work down after it hardens. I've seen nice results from hobbyists, also check local upholstery shops, as I've seen nice leather wrapped dashes.
