Greg, your right but my car is a done car, with the numbers matching motor. You know what it cost to do a car and do it right.I think IF it has the right motor it would take at least another 20K to make it a complete number 2 driver,NOT a number one car.Again,JMO,Tom

Assuming you could buy it for 70ish. (Which according to the auction maybe you cant.)

But if you could and put another 40k into it i would certainly think youd have a No 1, #s matching car with 54k original miles, and be the 2nd owner. I dont think youd be upside down by any means.

You may not be upside down, but you better love the car, because you wouldn't get any more for it than you have in it.

There have been several cars which have sold in the last two years for well under 100k, cars that were done which needed some tweeking, and cars which had not been restored or were older (80's) restorations.

IMHO, he should have taken Greg's offer of 70k for it and have been happy with it. It is not a 100k car, I'm not even sure it's a 70k car.

Greg or ANYONE!As I have asked before, does it have the numbers matching engine in the car?To me that has a big bearing on the value.I think we all know the engine has been out as it is painted the wrong color.Tom

I agree that the seller should have taken Gregs offer. I think the car ended right about where its worth.

The way i look at a car like this is anyone who buys it is gonna love it. Its obviously an uber rare car with low miles and one owner status. At this point nobody is gonna steal it. Apparently that was already done from the previous buyer.

Buy it, put the money into it, and end up with a car of that stature thats worth about what you have in it. That is a victory in my opinion. As years go on its only going up in value. If you could ever part with it...which im not sure i could. Of course, then again, i dont have a spare 100k laying around.

I dont know...maybe Greg does. I have always worked off the assumption that it does.

I bet the seller was inundated with info on how rare the car was from people kicking the tires, and he felt is was worth alot higher. This has happened to me when I was purchasing a car. Someone has to burst his bubble. Unfortunatly the bubble burster is the bad guy in this type of deal. I'm sure when the hype is over the car will be sold at a good and fair negotiated price.

I'd agree with that.

The guy bought the car for $20k and now he wants more than $70k? Greed is a terrible thing to waste.

Well, if the car was WORTH more than 70k, that would be one thing...

But, I'm with you on that one! He would've made 50k on that - take the money, shut up and go home!

I've been watching this thread and the auctions and I think this seller will regret passing on the high bid from the first auction soon. You almost never see a car like this on eBay getting more offered the 2nd or 3rd time around and it's not like this car didn't get a very fair high bid the first time. I hope the original owner is not watching as he must be kicking himself pretty hard, but then if he was fond of pulling up eBayMotors all the time, he wouldn't be in this position so maybe he's unaware.

Back up, my guess, tops out at $67,700.00 this time.

Seems like this car was a local Detroit car for all its life. If I had known about it being for sale for 20k I would have talked to the owner before he sold it to the present owner. I will have to do some investigating and see what the deal is here. He should have taken Greg's first offer on the original ebay auction, but you know what happens when one gets greedy? I will see what I can find out.

bidding stalled on the 2nd auction at just under $65k (good guess Black Cherry!). Probably will sell privately as more runs thru eBay in a short time would probably bring a similar result at best.

I WIN! I WIN! I WIN! So...what did I win? I didn't think it would hit 70k again, just a hunch. Greedy bastid!!!

If I had scored that T/A for 20k, I would've sold a few cars to pay for the frame-off, but that's just me.
