Default fuel pump

I'm installing electric wipers on a 1955 Chieftain. Will a late model fuel pump (1959-1977) fit in place of the original dual pump that's on the engine now?

55-60 Pontiac Master Parts Catalog shows a bunch of different fuel pumps from 55 thru 60 and none span the whole range of years. There is at least one that spans 55-57.

That said, I had the fuel pump in my '57 GMC (factory Pontiac 347 powered) go out on a road trip. Replaced it with a pump for a '67 Pontiac 400 and blocked off the return line with a short piece of hose, a 1/4" bolt to plug the hose and a couple of hose clamps. It was still working many years later when the truck was totaled.

Most of the pumps from 58-62 or so should have the correct fuel line size & position.
