Default 67 Firebird 400 Convertible with special paint

I recently purchased a 67 Firebird 400 Convertible that has " Special-1 " for its paint code. The car is fairly complete, but needs a total restoration. It has been taken apart to a great degree, so I can see how much work will be involved. The original color appears to be a bright orange (like hugger orange), which can be seen in all the overspray areas. I will be getting the PHS on the car when i'm back off vacation. Can anyone tell me how rare the " Special-1 " paint code is. I know that a 67 400 convertible is rare enough, but I'm trying to find out more about the paint code. All I have found so far is that it was special ordered with a Non-Pontiac color. Please let me know. Thanks.

I don't believe there is any info out there that will definitely show how rare your hugger orange 400 vert is. Suffice it to say that it is very rare, you will likely not see another one. What color interior? I'm anxious to see the PHS.

Any 67 400 convertible is rare - add any special color to it & you're likely less than 100.

I don't remember what the paint code is on my 69 bird, but it is carousel red which is identical to the camaro hugger orange.

Default 67 details

The interior is white deluxe buckets. No headrests. It is an automatic car with power top and tinted front windshield. It has 55K on it. The rear springs still have the tags on them, so I am inclined to believe it is actually 55K. The car has not had plates on it since 1981. Kind of a barn find.

Cool color combo! Did any of the GM divisions have an orange color in 1967? Would the factory mix up a completely special paint v.s. using a color available on other GM modeld?

that cowl area looks perfect for color matching

I would take to a good auto paint store that has a gun and see what it comes up with compared the oranges of that era.
Keep in mind that carousel red wasnt offered until mid 68.

heres some info on the orange that was special order on 67 Camaros

{dupont color #926-99616 which was used and known then as "Road Commission Orange"}

Default Up up and away

Umm....doesn't everybody put cars on pallet racks when they run out of floor space? I can't be the only one. It seemed like a logical solution.

Funny... that's the first thing I noticed, too. Took me about 30 seconds to get back around to "oh yeah, clicked on this to look at the orange thing in the foreground...".

It would be neat if the color turned out to be something other than Hugger Orange/Carousel Red. Since that color was offered on the '68 and '69s (and seems very common, especially on the 69s), it would be more "unique" if it was something different, IMO.

The cowl color looks really nice. That color orange with parchment interior will be amazing.

Chevrolet had an orange called "Road Commission Orange" in 1967 that was special order on the Camaro. Chevrolet Trucks had Code 516 (Orange) and GMC had "Omaha Orange" for a few years around that time (second pic).

A 67 Vert in Road Commision Orange and parchment interior would be totally stunning and certainly unique! Top color would be?

I would love to have those racks as well with the inventory.
Here is a pic of the machine shop I had build my 461. Chopped Mercs an Model A trucks over the engine assembly room.
