I have a shop that wants to use my GTO as a testing ground/advertisement, They are building a 505 (4.35 bore 4.25 stroke )with a IA2 block....still trying to figure out the rest of the combo. I am planning on heading south for Drag week as well...so it is going to be quite a year, and I am going to drive it to Drag week, so it has to be durable for the 4500 mile (ish) trip!!!

I will be taking a spare TKO 600 in the trunk, and will be testing the limits of it for sure, both my trany's are cryoed.

This is why I have questions about the Tiger heads, One of the shops involved thinks it might be the way to go...

Building a custom 6 point rollbar as we speek!

Tiger headed 535 here ran easy 10's with a 3000 converter, 3735 lbs. 3.73 rear. Motor will soon be back out of the car because I want to change a few things. Very streetable as I could not tell they were not the edelbrocks until got on it.

Dang Richard!

Going to Drag Week & your 65 used as a test bed and advertisement?

Sounds like a dream come true, how in the heck did you win this lottery
Sign me up also. Do you also get a paycheck?

The guy they refer to as Robin uses the screen name Mighty T/A but he's using Roland Racing CV-something or other heads now

It all depends on the amount of street driving and your HP goal.

Many higher compression race engines have had trouble keeping the head gaskets sealed between the center exhaust ports using Cometic gaskets with the Tiger head. We developed a special alloy insert to improve head gasket life. This upgrade has worked very well for all of the racers that have installed this insert.

I would build a longer stroke 535ci engine if I was building a street / strip build with Tiger heads.

It will be pump gas, so shouldn't be too high of compression (but good to know Calvin).

The tripower might have to get put on the shelf, at least till I build something, maybe a Wenzler tunnel ram with tripower carbs on top. Has to be a some given and take when someone else is paying the tab!!

I will check out Mighty T/A posts, Thanks.

You may want to go with HP heads? I think Tigers need RPM to really shine. The power potential will be greatly diminshed by trying to keep them street friendly.

Granted HP's have long valves etc and depending on the ports need a fair bit of lift. But Tiger's want big lift and that isn't street friendly either. One thing cruising to the local burger joint. Quite another doing what you say you will be doing.

Just my .02

Yeah the big lift is definitley a concern, there is no final decision on heads yet...
