Default Repop Air Dam to Valance Fit

So my body guy was trying to mock up the air dam to valance on my '71, and there's like a 2" gap between the mount tab and the valance.

Is there some kind of bracket or stand-off that's used to mount the air dam? It's been so long since I've dealt with this that I honestly can't recall.

I know I don't see anything in the exploded diagrams in assembly manuals, but know that doesn't always portray the actual.

Is it the repop air dam, repop valance, or a missing part/bracket/stand-off?

I think previously I used PVC tubing, but don't recall exactly. Can use aluminum tubing too I guess.

I think the one air dam I ordered came with plastic stand offs in a bag taped to the air dam, but we are talking 20+ years, so memory is foggy on it.

Finally getting around to this car, last time I drove it was like in 2000! Will do a build thread once it comes back from body & paint. Going to be a restomod, just forewarning!

I'm not familiar with the early years. Did they change the mounting setup or was it the spoiler, or perhaps the repro? This is the 72 scan.

Yeah, that's the one I've seen before, and it's not the full picture. It basically only shows the end fasteners.

The Firebird Central part(s) show the correct hardware & pic of the 3 center attachment points, and that is exactly what I needed.

The pic is horrible quality tho...

The 1972 (& '73) valance and spoiler diagrams will show incorrect hardware for '70 & '71 since '72's used a plastic valance and didn't require the "standoff" tubing pieces.

These would still be a dealer install item after delivery? Not sure if that affects the lack of detail in manuals. I've seem several non-TA owners add the front air dams only, end up with similar tube spacers on the ends where would normally meet up with wheel flares.

I ordered my set from Firebird Central on 4/29, and still have not received it yet.

Does anyone know the length of tubes and bolts? Or have a set they can let go?

Likewise here, although not quite as long. They keep telling me "next week."

Great. If I had the dimensions I would just make the dang things. I guess my body guy could make them too, but not sure I want him to. He's 2 states away or I would do it...

I have it on good authority that they will have stock in two weeks.

Being that I whined about not getting my kit right when I needed it, I thought it appropriate to let everyone know it arrived today. But more importantly, the quality of the pieces is top notch, just what i had hoped for. Only minor quibble was the quality of the copy of the factory installation diagram. Mine looks like it got chopped in half so i don't have the whole picture. If anyone cares to, could you post a pic of that diagram?
Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I got a shipping notification this past week, but haven't asked the body shop if they got it yet. (But expect they did).

I never had a good clear copy of the directions for the kit as the NOS kit never had them. I too would be interested in a pdf if anyone can find them. I think the copy I did have I got from Bill Oxley and he has gone missing on the board.
