Default Smart Gun

My son is a manufacturing engineer and is working for this upstart company. The concept is good prototypes seem to work but have not had 1000s of rounds shot through them.

Those are the Silicon Valley micro chip guys. Main engineers on design -main one started the project as a 12 years old late 20s electronic whiz kid now, and a NASA engineer.

I'm a little skeptical we'll see how it does once they get more out in the market. Thought is good only the person it is programmed to can shoot it. can not fire if dropped either firing mechanism electonically controlled.

I hope they figure out how to make it work reliably with dirty hands, wet hands, sunglasses, dark rooms, etc.

My iPhone 14 seems pretty sophisticated but it has trouble unlocking when conditions aren't ideal.

A friend who was a Police Officer carried a stub-nose 38 revolver for many years with the local (very large) police department).
His child and wife left his firearm alone and he did not need the "Smart Gun".

Same deal with my family, double bore 12 gage shotgun, a few rifles, a few revolvers, when I lived on the farm in Missouri.
Never had an issue obeying the rules.

Their Video at the gun range is comical.

Eric valid concerns. They have a video of my son's buddy, another engineer, at a gun range with pizza dirt hands and the gun worked fine.

They claim it works if your face is covered and if you have gloves on. Not sure how that works since it's facial recognition and digital fingerprint tech.

You cannot make a smart gun In america do not waste your time. There’s an old law on. The books that is any smart gun is made bad things happen to the second amendment. 2a supporters will devastate the company.

Here’s the reason

There's a problem though: even if the gun is developed, gun shops aren't likely to sell it. This is due to a combination of factors, namely a New Jersey law requiring that any handgun sold in the state must be a smart gun, as soon as smart guns are commercially available in the country.

That was a Looney Toons thing. Bullets knew their target and could stop and look around corners.

Make that a reality!

Probably trying to solve a kid picking up a parent's gun and shooting someone because it was not locked up. Or a criminal wrestling a cop's gun away and using it

I could see a benefit in those 2 situations IF it worked as designed 100% of the time. My experience with modern, high tech electronic devices, cell phones, computers, automobiles, home alarms, appliances, tablets, you name it, is your damn lucky if they work as designed 50% of the time! Add to that the super high stress of a life and death situation and I just don't know how it would all pan out. I guess we will find out at some point.
