Default 1977 Formula base/standard equipment

Hello;

I am wondering if someone could verse me on the standard equipment included with the 1977 Formula model.

I am pretty well versed on the 1970-1973 stuff, but after 1974, my knowledge falls off...

I do have a 1976 Pontiac Sales (Canadian) book, so I should be able to see what was standard on the Formula that year, but I'd really like to know for sure what was included in the Formula model for 1977.

Thanks in advance!!

There's a 1977 full line brochure here that may help: http://oldcarbrochures.org/United%20...ure/index.html

great!

so my 1976 dealer book says that the centre console came as standard equipment in the Formula that year;
I am guessing it remained standard equipment for 1977?

That link told me that the spoiler was standard on the Formula - that is good to read.

What about wipers - were recessed wipers standard equipment?

also, does anyone know what ZP2 on a 1977 Formula might indicate?

i'm going to guess it's something small pertaining to the assembly line, and currently indecipherable.

Wasn't that the Trim colour override option? What colour combination is it?

starlight black upper and lower

it's a D98 car - so it had the optional upper stripe;
Not sure of the original colour for that colour car - the current owner believes it was had silver accenting.

Also the car currently has a black interior - not red.

I am guessing that a previous owner did an interior swap;
It has black 77 cloth seats, and 73-75(?) deluxe upper door panels.

The dash insert is wrong (non gauge w/AC insert, on a no-gauge, non-AC car), the gauges are just wrong (combination of correct an earlier parts but the gauges from the auxiliary pod have been separately mounted in the AC holes)...

I incredibly skeptical that the ZP2 would be for a last minute interior change not reflected on the cowl tag - which is what the seller seems to think it implied.
(I am not implying the seller is trying to be deceitful, incase anyone reads into this - I think he is simply mistaken.)

That appears to be an over-ride so an 'ugly' color can be used with an exterior color.

The cowl tag has a red cloth seat and probably all red interior appointments.
Don't know if red is a recommended color for black or not though.

That code would not be used for a black interior though?

I would be more incline to think it has something to do with the D98 option;
specifically regarding the black over red interior versus the default D98 stripe colour for a black paint car.
maybe it was a color that was deemed to not looked good with the red interior(?).

Several years ago my brother owned a non-SE starlight black TA with red cloth interior;
I loved that interior!

Maybe someone reading this has a 1977 assembly manual(?) or can point me to a chart in that phone-book-of-an-MPC used for 1977-1981 Pontiacs - to show what colour D98 stripe was supposed to go with a black car.(?)

Doubt it's listed in the assembly manual, it is listed in the service manual somewhat and also the dealer manuals. I'll check when home.

The recommended D98 stripe for a Starlight black 77 formula was the silver decal with a black interior. The red interior with the silver decal may have been the mismatch option.
