Need trans help
Well I finally got my new 9" rear put in my car today. I serviced the engine and was preparing to go test tomorrow. I backed the car out of the garage, but when I shifted into drive there were no forward gears. Reverse is the only gear I have. That being said, the trans worked great last year. I broke the rear end last year and it has sat in the garage since being towed. Could the trans have been hurt when the rear end let go? It broke right at the traps at 94 mph so it made a heck of a noise when it broke. If so, what could be the problem? I am sure it is internal, I am just picking some brains here. I think I will try to rebuild it myself this time so I will be asking many more ? I'm sure.

Powerglide?
If so, probably the planetaries broke.

As I recall that can also include the input ring gear/planetaries as well,as only the rear planetary gears are used for reverse, while the front plantaries would be idling. Off the top of my head that would be my best guess. FWIW Bret P. |

Thanks, I guess I'll pull it out tomorrow. Maybe I will get to try these new 4.56 gears sometime this year.
