Default 1963-06 LEMANS-GTO

Hi, I have a lot of Judge's but this is my pet toy what do you all think?
I have 63 Lemans 326 auto black with red guts running car.
I have a 2006 GTO 6sp black with red guts hit hard in the behind side 5,325 miles.
I'am cutting the whole floor pan out of the 63 and then cutting the whole floor pan out of the 06, sitting the 63 down on the 06 floor pan running gear and all and welding her back together using the 06 buckets seats and console that now will bolt back to 06 floor board. Also puting the rear spoiler off the 06 gto on the 63 deck lid and a 63 style scoop on the hood.
Any suggestion or opions would be greatly appreciated, anyone done this before?

Then I will need to get rid of a lot of left over parts off the 63 running gear and the 06 body.

Sounds like an awfull lot of work!!!!! What condition is the 63 floor pan- front subframe?? May be a lot less work to swap the drivetrain into the 63???

i think your definitely going to get some opinions here, you got lots of welding to do. good luck. interesting how the firewall wall will line up, are the wheel bases that similar?

I've seen that done between a new Mustang and a 65 Mustang. It looks like a ton of work, but you would have a neat car when you were done...

No not a lot of work, it will be less work this way than to change the front and rear and then try to make the 06 motor, trannie, and rear end fit.
The floor boards have a little rust not that bad.
The wheel base is real close.
I can even use the 06 gas tank this way and leave it where it is behind the back seat.
My plan is to use everything I can out of the 06 gto.

I dont know the wheel base on the new GTO's but the 61-63's is 112" It would have to be real close to look right. cant have the wheels off center in the wheel well by much. Would be a real eye opener at shows!

The wheel base is the same it's the width that concerns me it's 1/2 wider, but I think I can make it work.
The first thing you do is a lot of measureing and looking then you look and measure befor you cut anything.

If the wheel base is the same, go for it!!! 1/2 inch is nothing!! thats 1/4" per side. Even if it is 1/2" per side, wont be a problem a different wheel off set wont fix!!!!!!

Remember, we want Pictures as this progresses!!!!!!

I was looking at a Z06 that was wrecked but the drivetrain was still intact. Decided it was too much work for me!!!

I have already started, both cars are striped. The 63 has been sand blasted, the 06 looks like it fell into a chop shop except the running gear is still intac.
As soon as I start cutting I will post pictures as it comes together.
The A Team said I like a good plan!

Working on my judge's trying to get ready for the GTOAA it's takeing longer than I thought. But here we are the 06 gto floor pan is now in the 63 Lemans along with the firewall and the front frame section, we have had the LS2 motor in for a mock up everything fits good. The 06 gto dash steering wheel pedels and 6sp shifter also fit real good. The gto seats fit right back in the same place on the 06 floor board have not tryed the rear seat yet. Our next cut will be to put the rearend in the 63, MORE TO COME.

Cool. Somehow I missed this thread when it started. I'm doing something similar with a 04 Z06 and a '63 T4 wagon. I'm modding the Z06 engine before assembly going for 500+ normally aspirated HP. You?

Thumbs up Thanks

Been gone from the Poncho crew for awhile - had some bad experiences - anyway, recently, and coincidentally, came across a 62 tempest and a wrecked 05 GTO - the thought was an engine/trans swap - happy to hear its possible to swap the whole enchilada - thanks so much for the thread - it's good to be back.
