Default 300+ MPH street driven Record Holder

Some years ago, Mark @ Luhn Performance, his wife Jill, and I went to the Victoria Texas Area to watch John Clegg, a Pontiac Racer, try to run 200 mph with his RAT GOAT (Pure Pontiac Power - 1964 Lemans body).

The car was powered by a large Vortech Supercharger. He ran about 196 MPH. Skip Fix was also at the Texas Mile.

So Johns car probably weighed 3600 lbs with him in the car.
(There was a Ford GT Sports Car with twin Turbos that ran 287 mph on the Texas Mile the same day.

So I see where recently (last few days) where a similar Ford GT race car set a
new MPH record at the NASA Space Center in Florida.
More info in a bit.

Wow, and the body looks mostly stock without lots of aerodynamic mods.

Thanks for sharing!

Danny Thompson will tell you that having a properly sized front chin spoiler will have a
difference. He flipped a Ford Mustang over on its back at Bonneville one year at 265 mph.

310 is scary fast. But a much better body shape vs a Mustang
