I don't know if you can find an answer to why, other than in the 1960s all manufacturers offered a wide range of options. Here's a page from the 1966 accessories booklet; there are three types of full covers shown for full size Pontiacs, plus there were the base model 'dog dish' type that only covered the center of the wheel, plus there were 8 lug wheels. http://oldcarbrochures.org/United%20...let/index.html You can see more factory brochure information at http://oldcarbrochures.org/United%20...iac/index.html

A, C and E are correct for your car.

I have run all three of those wheel discs, Deluxe, custom and wire on my various 66 cars. All three variations do show up for sale pretty regularly and at reasonable prices. On a Bonneville, the deluxe covers are a bit plain for my taste. The spinners look nice on a Bonneville or any full size IMO. They are a 1 year style for 66. The wire covers look nice as well, especially with skirts IMO and are more unique. They are very high quality and really heavy. They are a bolt together design in many small pieces. I took mine completely apart and cleaned them up and polished the spokes when first purchased. They looked like new with just that process. Once cleaned-up initially, fairly easy to keep looking good. Same wire covers were used for several years.

I have a set of spinners “C” that I took off my Bonneville forty years ago! Also 1/4 skirts and front wheel opening moldings.
I’ll try to PM you some pics tomorrow.

Terry
