Project 20 footer
I’ve posted about this a few times and wanted to give a follow up.
I will keep it brief and won’t really go into too much detail unless someone asks. The short version is I picked up a 69 GTO from the original owner in non running/sitting for years condition. Owner said to expect to replace everything- he did not know if it would run, drive, stop, etc. This is what it looked like when I bought it. It was called everything from a dried out Hershey kiss to a poop emoji. |

After hours of cleaning, buffing and waxing the car looked much better. A new gas tank and some basic maintenance and the car was driving.
It looked good, it looked like what a lot of GTO’s looked like back in the 70’s. But it was brown. Not the cool original expresso brown; but a random delivery truck brown. Not the best look. |

After a while keeping it the way it was found, it became obvious that the car wasn’t getting chosen very often to take out. The car needed a facelift. Goal was to make it as much fun as possible for a minimal investment.
I tried my first wrap (not easy, but do-able), added Judge decals and spoiler, got the AC working, swapped the wheels and tires from my 70 LeMans and upgraded the exhaust. What I ended up with was a very cool, fun car that looks great going down the road. From 20 feet away the car looks fantastic. You get up on it you can see the blemishes- but damn is it fun to drive! You can sit on it, see your beer on it, my daughter took her first drivers lesson in it…. Kind of liberating not to have to worry about paint. |

I love it! I am the biggest booster of the 20-footer, because that's (mostly) all I own.

That is an amazing transformation. You did a great job on your first wrap...you can't tell in the pictures it isn't paint. I love it!

It is great to have a muscle car you can drive anytime you want and enjoy without total worry. It looks like a real, restored valuable Judge from the distance you describe. I followed your wrap thread. Has real Pontiac power and you can drive and enjoy it literally like it's 1969 again. I have no idea what your investment is in the car but much less than a restoration and it didn't spend 2-3 years in paint jail. Spring is here, enjoy!

Thanks guys- I’m pretty happy with it. Like I said there are definitely parts of the wrap I will redo, and things I will do differently but as far as functionality I couldn’t be happier.
Total investment in the car is about $14k which is pretty good when you consider it’s a one owner complete numbers matching car that everything works |

This picture under the LED lights gives a pretty accurate description of what the wrap looks like up close.
In the sun it looks like paint from 10’ away. I will definitely do this again- a friend has a faded 99 Camaro SS so I think that will be the next one we try. Probably easier too. |

I'm amazed how well the original paint cleaned up and the wrap looks fantastic! On the road being enjoyed for $14k puts you ahead of 99.9% of us, great job

That is 1000% better! Well done!!! I had a show quality '66 GTO that I sold in 1990 after 8 years of walking on eggshells driving it. My GTO's currently are, and have always been 'driver' quality cars that I take to the store, run errands, have fun with. Rock chips and all. Very nicely done, and good for you.

Amazing transformation!
You made quick work of that car, glad it came out so nice and you’re enjoying it. This truly takes talent and vision to accomplish, congratulations on your new favorite ride.
