Wanted: 65 Bonnie or Cat Convertible
Hurdles are cleared and wife is in! (yay!)
Ideal: Bonnie Convert 4 spd 421 HO Tripower ... will consider automatics etc etc. Will consider anything from all stock originals to frame off to needing full restoration. Yep ... the GTO is finally going! Oh well ... back to the biggies for me ... Please let me know what you have ... will be making some choices ... thanks

Hey there,
I may have a lead on a '65 Cat (possibly 2+2) convertible. The owner is an old friend of mine, we haven't talked in a while but I know he has the car along with 2 other Ponchos. Over the years I have tried to buy one of his others with no luck. He's one of those guys who doesn't really have a reason why he wouldn't sell, just that he didn't know what he wanted to do. Also, he has not done anything with the cars he has for years. And so the iron sits. Anyway, here are a few details. If you want me to pursue this I can try to get in contact with him and see where it goes. Can't promise anything but I have hated seeing the cars sit all these years. This is how I remember the car: '65 Cat, 389, 4 speed, Nightwatch Blue/white & top interior Believed it was a 2+2 but I can't verify that as I dont think PHS was ever done. Located in NJ, always garaged.

phil, look at feb of this year that is where it is! also I did not really care for 67 g.p. but that does not mean you would not like! you really should go look at it! right over the border in p.a. turnpike all the way! the car i am talking about is a 65 2 plus 2 vert. black with red interior. the guys name is steve! car is in jersey! fred

Thanks Fred ... I was looking for Bonnevilles and must have missed the Cat. I think I remember the car you're talking about. I will check again.
I'm thinking of taking a ride to Pittsburgh to check out the other car but when I communicated with that dealer last time about the car (a long time ago it seems) I felt that the man was obnoxious and arrogant and I just dropped it. I was sort of surprised to still see the car was there ... The reason I was asking you was that you sent me a PM that said talk to you if that was the car I was interested in. I just figured you had seen it or knew something about it and you could shed light on the condition of it ... Thanks for your help! Phil

yes i saw the car when i purchased a 2 plus 2 from him! he can be what you say and i ended up putting 3 grand in repairs to mine the car looks better in pics that in person! front end did not align too well and car did not have that fresh look! gold and blk are not my favorite colors! if you go take something to check body with you or a good body-mechanic. car has been for sale forever!! does that tell you anything?

 yeah it does ... Gold isn't my favorite either. He calls it the "rare" Tiger Gold but it's not ... it's just Signet Gold and they aren't the same. Tiger Gold would have been MUCH RARER ... can't say I've ever seen a GP with it actually.How long ago did you see the car?

Wow ... he's had it for awhile longer than I was even aware of. If the guy who I was in email contact with wasn't so difficult to talk to I would call him. I'll have to think about it. I won't be passing by Pittsburgh for a while but I could always just take the 10 hour round trip ...

Friend has a 65 catalina rag top. Runs, but needs resto. Good body and floor pans. Nothing missing. Has a 65 hardtop to go with it, complete. Both for $2500.00

70stage thanks for the heads-up ... not into 66's like '65's although this car seems nice.
I was going to buy the '62 Convt 425A Tripower car on ebay for $18,000 but he sold it I believe and took it off when I was calling him to buy the car ... barrier ... you're not kidding ... i still have to call the guy in Joisey ... 63gp ... i'll check that out ... Thanks guys ... please keep them coming ... I'm waiting on pics from a couple of guys as well. I think I'm still waiting to hear from the guy in NJ with the black over red Cat '65 ...

That one is kind of a 2+2 clone from the looks, but the interior looks nice and the tail lamp panel looks good from the photos also. Who knows, price is right if it is nice, but is at a dealers, so guessing that there may be some issues?? who knows, as they say, if it aint right.... paint it white!!
