Well, stencils and stripes will tell you there is no difference, as that is the numbers they have from GM. That is what they told me when I ordered up my whale stripe for my 72.

I know that the deck lid GTO is smaller than the fenders/quarters. I need a smaller set, but I haven't delved into that any farther. I haven't looked at the PY, year ones yet to see if they offer the smaller trunk.

I'd be interested to see the postings here have to say. Well, I'm a lot of help

I bought decals in the mid 70's from a Pontiac dealer and the fenders and trunk lid decals all had the same part numbers.

The differences are that they are different sizes. PY and Ames sell them.

Decklid is smaller. I can measure them and get back to you so you know which ones that you have.

Compared to the trunk decal. [From the 1970 LeMans/GTO/Grand Prix assembly manual, page 1-13 (58)] 478202 (Black GTO), 478203 (Red GTO) and 478204 (White GTO).

As has been mentioned, the trunk decal is smaller and the letters are spaced farther apart.

This confusion comes from the fact that GM parts later merged the two different sized decals into one number.
