Default Drip rail moldings for a vinyl top

I was searching for new drip rail moldings for my 68 GTO and OPGI said theirs were not for a vinyl top. Is there really a difference?

I've heard they made two different drip rails as well. Not sure I believe that. In the case of a 69 Iam working on with a vinyl top the original drip rail trim had to be closed up a little as they opened up from removal.
Would like to hear what others have to say about this.

To answer your question, I'm not sure. There definitely was glue on the outside of my drip rails but I can't recall when I removed the old top whether the vinyl went over the drip rail. If it did, that makes a tight fit that much tighter. On the other hand, I can't imagine the factory having two different sets of stainless molding trim extruded.

For what it's worth, I just had a new vinyl top and drip rail moldings installed on my 69. When I brought the moldings to the upholstery shop and told the guy they were repop (I fubared the originals) and he said, "Uh-oh"....but after installation he said he was impressed with how well they fit. The installer trimmed the vinyl top at the peak of the drip rail and then installed the moldings.
Here's a pic.

That's how I did mine as well...I can't imagine that there are two different drip rails. If you look up drip rails in the Ames Catalog, do they show two different ones? Not that I can find... Mine are original by the way and it's an original vinyl top car.
