Please, please, please read and re-read the instructions for Luhn's cam sync. It is an awesome unit but can cause you a lot of grief if setup incorrectly. PM me if you have any issues with it.

Some very nice fabrication work there.

Thanks, I may take you up on that. I haven't even looked at the instructions yet. This is all new to me, I'm just figuring it out as it goes.

Thanks, I need to freshen the engine in my red car. But I hope to have this car race ready very soon.

Default Cam Sync Install

Attached are photos of how the cam sync should be installed. This is what works on our twin turbo car with a Holley Dominator.

So after you set up the crank as described in your PM you sent me. Return to TDC compression stroke and roll the crank back counter clockwise until you reach 195deg BTDC. Then install the cam sync as pictured. Gave you a couple of different angles to see where to set it. Make sure you select "single pulse" and "Digital Falling" in the software. The connector should be pinned, from left to right looking at the sensor as installed, Pin A 12v, Pin B signal, Pin C ipu ground. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Does the cam sync body HAVE to be at 9 o'clock. Or is it like a distributor, where you can have #1 wherever you want it?

The reason I ask is because it would work better for me if I could have the sensor plug pointing at 6 o'clock.

That's an ATI balancer and Holley 36-1 wheel.

You can point it wherever you want as long as it ends up with the "window" in the position pictured.

Thanks ErikW for all your help!

I set the cam sync exactly like the pic in the instructions and the car shot flames out of the headers. I noticed your pic was 90° off from Luhn's pic. So I rotated the cam sync body 90° and the car fired right up.

Did you machine the wheel to fit the balancer yourself or have someone else do that?

We machined the back side of the wheel to pilot on the step in the face of the balancer, opened up the center hole to just fit the hub and drilled the three pulley holes after we indexed it. We started with a blank wheel.

Update? I’d like to switch to the Holley Dominator system eventually so I’m following your progress
