Default Pleated upholstery SMS fabrics

I'm planning to purchase correct material for my 69 GP from SMS here in Oregon. My car is burgandy vinyl with comfort weave inserts. Was wondering best place to have heated pleats replicated when having covers made. Has anyone had luck sending material to pui for this using SMS material? Figured maybe no problem since pui already makes repro GP seat upholstery. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

SMS will do it. I think they take some time because of work load

I'll have to call and check time frame. Not in a hurry at all but don't want it to take too long. So long as quality is good and I'll be good with that. They will probably need old covers to pattern after I guess.

Thumbs up SMS Fabrics

Just received my door panels and seat covers from SMS for my '63 Catalina sedan.

STUNNING!!!

I would suggest adding a few months to their quoted lead time.

The finished product is worth the price and the wait!

I ordered black comfort weave from SMS in December of 2016. It arrived in March 2017. The quality is excellent. I ordered more 1st of March 2017 and have yet to receive it. I just keep getting the canned response “ it will ship the end of the month, we have to get it from our other warehouse”.

The receptionist seems very snippy with me and I just call once a month and politely ask for an update.

My issue is this is supposed to be. NOS. How long does it take to roll some off and ship it?
They also charge your card immediately?
I just do not agree with their business practices.

That being said the quality of their product has been top notch. Will I continue to do business with them? As long as their the only game in town with correct comfortweave yes.

Stan

I am not trying to defend SMS for delays or rudeness, but I might have insight that may help some;

I have been to their facility - Think of it as a giant warehouse of fabric.
GIANT...

I would guess they charge your card immediately because that covers the cost of material that is cut for your order.
I do not know who or where the stitching ect is done, but from what I saw, my guess is that it was off site.

I work in the truss industry, if a 'one timer' wants an order, we more often than not charge them from when the lumber gets cut for their order - so I would think SMS does something similar;
I understand how getting charged up front might seem a bad practice, but from the business standpoint, from the moment material is allocated (cut ect) for an order, that's material that is now useless to anyone else, because it's cut specifically for your order.
I know that in the past we have had what must have been well intended repeat cutomer's call us and place an order, then never pick up - now we're holding the ball with custom spec'd product that is virtually useless to anyone else, and because we didn't arrange and get information to charge them immediately, we have to eat it.

I'm a one time customer. Needed a mustard gold headliner for a 69 Lemans. They said 6 to 8 weeks in the beginning. Finally got it after several months, after persistent contact and threats to cancel credit card payment. It looks good and is the correct color, but not installed yet. You will need patience that passes all understanding!

I asked Legandary a few years ago & was told they will do pleated seat covers with your nos comfortweave material.

Stay away from PUI.... If they do your pleats they will fail. Search PUI on here.
