Default 67GP front turn signals and side marker lights

How are the parking lights, turn signals, and side marker lights supposed to work as far as what's on and lit with the headlights off and what works and is lit with the headlights on? Do the side marker lights stay on all the time when the headlights are on or do they blink with the turn signals?

Parking lights only come on in the parking lights are turned on and they blink with the directions are on. They do not come on with the headlights.
A 67 does not have side marker lights from the factory

SteveP,

Thanks for the reply. My car has factory side marker lights,

So the front parking lights are only solid lit when the headlight switch is pulled out to the first position? Then when the headlights are turned on the parking lights go out but become the turn signals?

Not sure how to post photos but my car has side marker lights on the front fenders right between the front wheel well and the front bumper.

The side lights aren't coming on with the parking lights or the headlights. Do the side lights work like turn signals?

Those are cornering lights. Turn the headlights on and move the turn signal to a direction. The cornering light will light up on that direction solid white (no flashing). It requires a different turn signal switch than regular cars. I would also verify the light bulbs are good.

You have to have the headlights on AND a turn signal direction selected before they will come on.

And yes, the parking lamps up front are only on when you have the headlight switch pulled out 1 position (last year it was like this). They function as turn signals at all times.

If you add them to the fenders but do not have the correct turn signal switch on the column, they can be added to the headlight circuit and used as side marker lights with a lower wattage bulb.

Another reason the cornering lights may not work is bad grounding. They get their ground from the fender sheetmetal so sometimes body shops put enough paint on the inside of the fender that the lamp housing can’t find a ground.

Btw, you don’t need to turn the ignition on to test the lights. If you turn on the headlights and then put on the turn signal the cornering light for that side should stay on.
