estimate of cost to ship roller from Az to Tn?
Possible lead on a car in Arizona with no engine. Need a ballpark figure on shipping to middle Tennessee.
Any ideas? |

I know its been since 2011 that I had my car shipped from Stockton, Ca. to Indianapolis, In. I shopped around and got my car delivered for $745. It was Not an enclosed carrier. This price included door-to-door service and insurance coverage at no extra cost. If you want the carrier I used, just PM me. I will give you all the information.

Note that shipping a non-running car is going to cost more than if it can be driven on and off the shipper's trailer.

A friend had a 70 GTO convertible roller shipped to Beaver Falls,Pa from midwest. Somehow found a trucker coming back with space on open trailer. Dont remember cost but was cheap. Had to find local area with big forklift to remove. Saw pics. Might be another idea if specific car hauler costs to much, probably safer though.

Both Bart & Stuart are correct. In fact most big carriers won't even mess with non-ops (some do) because they need to load & unload them many times on a cross country trip. Most do not have winches. Even though I cannot help you with this transport as I am booked almost 100% until probably mid May, I will be glad to give you cash on delivery price quotes for both single car open & single car enclosed trailers if you P.M. me with town names or zip codes for each end. Just so you have an accurate idea. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/

The guy that hauled the funny car for us has winches in his trailer (semi that can haul 6+ cars...running or non-running). He's based in Indiana but travels the country.

thank you everyone.
As expected, the hauling seems like a pain in the butt. Maybe cheaper to rent a U-Haul truck and trailer and make a road trip. |

Call Ron Chamnes I sent you his phone # in a private message. He is a hotshot trucker who hauls commercial bar-b-que cookers all over the U.S. He routinely hauls cars back for people, including rollers, on his back hauls. He is in So. Illinois. You would have to wait until he has a trip to Arizona to get his best price but he does go there several times a year. He is a Pontiac guy and is honest and dependable.

Roller bodies with no engine/trans can be an easy load. Having hauled many on an open trailer as a backhaul or as part of a larger load, I can see $800-1000 being feasible, ESP if in AZ, the car is close to I40.
Having hauled numerous rollers on open trailers for myself & for others, here's the surprises I don't want to see which add time & expense to securely loading a "roller". -Frozen up brake drums, flat dryrotted tires, locked up rear axle. The vehicle needs to be able to roll! -Blown out rusty muffler exhaust systems that hang down. Yes, I carry a cordless sawsall & floorjacks but the "roller" should be prepped. Not doing so, is often on the lazy #ss seller. -Back glass that isn't firmly in place, ESP in a vehicle that the side windows won't roll up. -Missing rear shocks, sometimes a real PITA to strap down the vehicle properly. -the stuffed full of loose parts "roller" with bad floorpans or bad trunk pan. Loose parts need to be properly stored, that doesn't mean an assortment of thin cardboard boxes that have been rained on loaded with small parts in a bad floorpan vehicle.

Auto shipping prices have increased dramatically and the service has become dodgy. I paid about 1/3 more to ship our LeMans last December than I did in 2015. The LeMans did run, but from what I understand they never started it. All of the trucks that picked it up and transferred the car had winches.
